THURSDAY PREP ROUNDUP: Effingham boys fall to Charleston; Teutopolis girls defeat Newton

Dec. 15—EFFINGHAM — The Effingham Flaming Hearts fell to Charleston, 62-33, at Effingham High School.

Cannon Bockhorn led Effingham (2-10, 1-3 Apollo Conference) with 10 points.

Ethan Jones had six points. KJ Kellams and Rylan Pals each had five. Nolan Fearday and Cole Phillips each had three and Adam Flack had one.

Louisville (North Clay) 59, Wayne City 45

The North Clay Cardinals defeated Wayne City, 59-45, in the Wayne City Conrad Allen Holiday Tournament.

Cody Zimdars, Carder Walden and Lucas Griffey led North Clay (3-6) with 10 points each.

Ethan Kuenstler had eight points. Andrew Casolari and Jesse Weidner each had six. Ian Jones had four. Gavin Hosselton had three and Garon Bailey had two.

Teutopolis 48, Newton 42

The Teutopolis Lady Shoes defeated the Newton Lady Eagles, 48-42, at J.H. Griffin Gym.

Chloe Probst led Teutopolis (7-3) with 16 points and three rebounds.

Mollie Ruholl had eight points and one rebound.

Anna Probst had eight points, two rebounds and one steal. Summer Wall had four points, two rebounds and three steals. Isabelle Zerrusen had four points, one rebound and two steals.

Kelsey Niemerg had four points and three rebounds and Malea Helmink had four points and four rebounds.

As for Newton (6-5), Lilly Kessler led with 15 points. Camryn Martin had 14 points.

Elley Bennett had seven. Karasyn Martin had four and Macy Barthelemy had two.

Tuscola 40, Stewardson-Strasburg/Windsor 38

The Stewardson-Strasburg/Windsor Hatchets fell to Tuscola, 40-38, at Tuscola High School.

Ellie Wittenberg led Stewardson-Strasburg (4-8) with 11 points.

Katelyn VonBehrens had eight points.

Samantha Hayes had six. Kendra Hayes had five and Ella Kinkelaar and Morgan Mathis each had four.

Brownstown/St. Elmo 66, Neoga 64

The Brownstown/St. Elmo Bombers defeated the Neoga Indians, 66-64, in overtime at Brownstown High School.

Dayana Haslett led Brownstown (10-3, 3-1 National Trail Conference) with 15 points.

Lexi Seabaugh had 15 points. Madi Miller and Presley Williams each had 12. Abbi Ledbetter had three and Addie Sasse, Jaydin Huddlestun, Danika Ramsey and Jayna Ireland all had two.

As for Neoga (9-2, 3-1 National Trail Conference), Haylee Campbell led with 24 points.

Brynn Richards had 19 points. Atalie Osborn had 11. Allison Sampson had seven. Malory Henderson had two and Gracie Eaton had one.

Cerro Gordo/Bement 39, Toledo (Cumberland) 35

The Cumberland Lady Pirates fell to Cerro Gordo/Bement, 39-35, at Waldrip Gymnasium.

Alysa Dittamore led Cumberland (5-8, 2-2 Lincoln Prairie Conference) with nine points.

Suzy Fritts and Jade Carr each had seven points and Jadalyn Sowers and Katelyn Shoemaker each had six.
