Three die after their kayaks capsize in Stockton Lake

Mar. 23—Three people drowned earlier this week when their kayaks capsized in Stockton Lake, the Missouri State Water Patrol is reporting today.

Melodie Roberts, 18, of South Lyon, Michigan, and Sonny D. Lewis, 18, of Milo, were in one kayak that capsized late Tuesday afternoon in rough water.

Iziah Lewis, 20, no address given, was in a second kayak that also capsized.

None of them was wearing a PFD.

All three were paddling in the Crabtree Cove area of Stockton Lake in Cedar County.

They all were pronounced dead by the Cedar County Coroner.

Roberts' body was released to the coroner's office, and the other two bodies were released to Brumback Funeral Home in Stockton.
