Three Chiefs finish in double figures for road win at Sturgis

STURGIS — White Pigeon knew coming to play at Sturgis on Wednesday would not be easy.

But the Chiefs felt up for the task and were prepared for a tough contest. In the end, balanced scoring and a key component off the bench propelled the Chiefs to the 67-59 road win over the Trojans.

"I think we played well tonight, Sturgis is a team that plays hard and we knew that would make this one tough," White Pigeon coach Shawn Strawser said. "They are a well-coached team and play good competition throughout the year, so we knew this one wouldn't be easy."

A steady mix of athleticism, the ability to take and hit perimeter shots and second-chance opportunities all aided to the success for the Chiefs.

Each team reached double figures in all four quarters on Wednesday evening. Both teams also held an advantage throughout the opening two quarters of the game, leading to a 33-31 halftime advantage for White Pigeon.

The high water mark for the game was White Pigeon's 20-point spot in the fourth.
