Immediate reaction on social media from NBA fans on the Milwaukee Bucks' decision to fire head coach Adrian Griffin often seemed to be one of mouth wide-open surprise.

As in "are you not paid to win the games?"

"They're 30-13" was a trending topic on X (the site formerly known as Twitter) soon after the dismissal was confirmed.

This didn't compute for many fans of the league (outside of the Milwaukee area at least).

But if you've been watching facial expressions on the bench from Bucks' players in recent weeks, this probably wasn't exactly a shock as defense often appeared optional.
