The Match: Tom Brady, Aaron Rodgers hang on to beat Josh Allen, Patrick Mahomes

Tom Brady and Aaron Rodgers nearly blew a two-shot lead on Wednesday night in Las Vegas. But thanks to a late surge, and a clutch birdie putt from the reigning league MVP at the final hole, Brady finally picked up his first win in The Match.

Brady and Rodgers rallied to beat Patrick Mahomes and Josh Allen in the latest 12-hole edition of The Match. It marks Brady’s first win in three attempts at the event. It was his first without a PGA Tour golfer as his playing partner.

Rodgers did it all on the first hole, landing his drive right in the center of the fairway and sinking a deep birdie putt to take the early lead. His partner was actually late to the first tee after he said he “got lost,” though he may have been a little shook after seeing what Allen put on his custom golf balls for the event.

Rodgers and Brady jumped up again on the second hole, which prompted Mahomes to crack open his first beer of the round.

That, at least for a while, was all it took. Mahomes made birdie on the third hole to bring them back to one down, and then they tied it up at the fifth.

It took a few holes, but Mahomes and Allen finally took their first lead at the eighth after Mahomes stuck his drive on the par-3 inside 10 feet to set up their birdie.

Allen narrowly missed a birdie putt that would have kept them in the lead at the 10th, however, which eventually sent the teams to the final hole all tied up.

Though Brady, Allen and Mahomes all initially missed the green, Rodgers stuck his drive on the par-3 just a few feet from the hole.

Rodgers drained his birdie putt to officially close out The Match and give them the win.

Even though it was all for charity, it seems the veteran quarterbacks aren't ready to be pushed out of the sport just yet.
