Texas Tech football spring game to be held at Midland

Due to the construction project in the south end zone at Jones AT&T Stadium, the Texas Tech football team's 2024 spring game will be heading out of town.

The Red Raiders will hold their spring game April 20 at Midland's Astound Broadband Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m. with more information to come closer to the date.

Tech regularly held the spring game in Midland from 2013 to 2019. Last year's game, also due to construction, stayed in Lubbock and was played at Lowrey Field.

"The Permian Basin is such a vital area for us," Texas Tech head coach Joey McGuire said in a news release, "not only from a recruiting perspective but also due to the large alumni base that is so dedicated to this university. We look forward to bringing our team back to Midland for what I'm sure will be a memorable experience."

Texas Tech will have 14 other spring practices leading up to the game. Those will be held either inside the Jones or on the practice field adjacent to the Sports Performance Center. Practices will be closed to the general public with members of the Texas High School Coaches Association being exceptions.

Spring practices will begin March 19 with the Red Raiders holding three practices per week.
