Texas target Arch Manning is the unanimous No. 1 player in the nation

Texas had endured a decade of mediocrity at the quarterback position until Sam Ehlinger came along.

However, even with the mild success that he brought to Austin, Ehlinger was unable to replicate that of the two Longhorn legend quarterbacks in Vince Young and Colt McCoy.

That is quite the standard to live up to, but the Longhorns currently have a quarterback on the roster in Ohio State transfer Quinn Ewers, who is expected to be just as successful as those he grew up watching.

Not to mention,Texas is in a six-horse race for one of the nation’s best quarterback prospects to eventually replace Ewers in a couple seasons in five-star Arch Manning.

He hails from an elite quarterback family as his grandpa Archie and uncles Peyton and Eli were NFL quarterbacks. The youngest Manning quarterback is looking to make a name for himself, and so far he seems to be doing well.

On3 took to Instagram to post their consensus rankings, which consist of the average rankings from the four major recruiting sites. Manning is rated as the No. 1 ranked prospect according to On3, 247Sports, ESPN, and Rivals.

If Ewers can live up to the hype surrounding his high school success, and the Longhorns are able to secure a commitment from the consensus No. 1 player in Manning, the future of Texas football will be in fantastic hands.
