Texas A&M Football Wednesday Press Conference: It’s Jimbo Fisher’s world, and we’re just living in it

Let me start by saying that we were all hilariously duped by Aggie’s headman Jimbo Fisher as he took the mic at 2:00 PM today as he opened Wednesday press conference, with many fans and media members believing that the fast-talkin’ West Virginia native would finally spill the beans on who the starting quarterback will be to start the 2022 season.

Well, after a brief smirk when asked if he has made his mind up yet, Fisher briefly stated “We’ll announce it when we’re ready.” He also added that the competition is ongoing and that he currently does not have a timetable regarding an announcement as of this time. When asked about the benefits yielded from the progress made by all three QBs through the conclusion of fall camp, Jimbo responded,

“It makes you more confident in the scenarios that can go on.”

“I think all three are growing. When you have depth, it’s a very good thing, especially at that position.”

Fisher continued to open up about what it will take to ultimately obtain the starting quarterback spot, providing a less cryptic response while stating,

“Consistency and who gives us the best chance to win.”

Consistency is a term that speaks volumes in accordance with the quarterback position, especially concerning Texas A&M’s lack thereof during the first four seasons for Jimbo Fisher. So there you have it, Haynes, Max, and Conner, it’s officially a battle of consistency!

To finish off the presser, Jimbo touched on the Center position presumed to be held down by sophomore All-American candidate Bryce Foster, but hold on a second… is the backup center, Matthew Wykoff an emerging surprise candidate for the spot? As Foster has been progressing through a minor injury during the latter half of camp, Wykoff has been making the most of his opportunities, as Fisher stated that he feels comfortable with either two at the spot at present time. Interesting to say the least!
