Texans DE J.J. Watt wishes Broncos’ Von Miller well after season-ending injury

Houston Texans defensive end J.J. Watt and Denver Broncos outside linebacker Von Miller are tied at the hip.

In 2011, the Broncos drafted Miller with the No. 2 overall pick, the first defensive player taken, while the Texans selected Watt No. 11 overall.

Watt earned three NFL Defensive Player of the Year awards, tied for the most in NFL history. Miller earned Super Bowl MVP when the Broncos beat the Carolina Panthers in Super Bowl 50.

The face of the Texans has five All-Pro selections while Miller has more sacks: 106.0 to 96.0.

However, Watt took to Twitter Tuesday evening to express his regret that Miller will be lost for the season with an ankle injury.

Miller has played in at least 15 games every season of his career, save for 2013 when a combination of a six-game suspension and a torn ACL in Week 16 limited him to nine games. Watt has missed 31 games since 2016 with an assortment of injuries ranging from a herniated disc to a left tibial plateau fracture to a torn pectoral muscle.

The Broncos weren’t on the Texans’ schedule as the Kansas City Chiefs are Houston’s same-place finisher game. However, the Texans saw Miller last season in Week 14 with the Broncos shocking Houston 38-24 with Miller providing three tackles and two quarterback hits.
