Tennis Podcast: Can the Davis Cup Finals overcome organisational problems?

If one of the main reasons for changing the format of the Davis Cup was to encourage more top players to compete, then the Finals in Madrid have been a hit, with Wednesday marking the first time that Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokovic and Andy Murray had all played a Davis Cup match on the same day since September 2013.

But ongoing organisational problems – headlined by extraordinarily late finishes - have stopped the event from being a resounding success.

It all means there is plenty for Catherine Whitaker, David Law and Matt Roberts to discuss on The Tennis Podcast.

Plus, hear from Novak Djokovic on whether the Davis Cup can ever merge with the ATP Cup, Andy Murray on his physical condition, and both players on the controversy surrounding Canada’s decision to forfeit their doubles match against the United States.

The Tennis Podcast is produced weekly throughout the year, daily during the Grand Slam tournaments, the WTA and ATP Finals, and the Fed Cup and Davis Cup Finals.

  • This week's Tennis Podcast is sponsored by the Davis Cup by Rakuten Madrid Finals, which takes place 18-24 November. Ticket details: http://www.daviscupfinals.com/
