Tennessee Super 25 high school football rankings: See who made first poll of season
Lipscomb Academy has moved up to Division II-AAA and has a new football coach in Pro Football Hall of Famer Kevin Mawae. But the Mustangs, who are coming off two straight DII-AA state championships, remain the No. 1 team in the first Tennessee Super 25 high school football rankings of the 2023 season, which is how they finished the 2022 season.
A group of high school sports writers from the USA Today Sports Network will vote each week on the top 25 football programs in Tennessee.
The Week 1 rankings are highlighted by three games involving teams in the statewide poll combining all classifications and divisions.
Third-ranked Brentwood Academy hosts sixth-ranked CPA on Saturday in the top game statewide for Week 1. No. 14 Bearden travels to defending Class 5A state champion and No. 10 Knoxville West, also on Saturday. And ninth-ranked Pearl-Cohn plays at No. 15 MBA on Friday.
First-place votes are in parentheses. Each first-place vote receives 25 points; each second-place vote receives 24 points, on down to No. 25, which receives one point.
