Tennessee football sells out season tickets again at Neyland Stadium with 15,000 on waiting list

It’ll be standing room only again for Tennessee football games at Neyland Stadium this season.

UT has sold out its 70,500 season tickets for the second straight season and the third time in the past 23 years.

There’s a waiting list of almost 15,000 fans showing interest in season tickets, athletics director Danny White said.

Along with single-game ticket sales, UT has posted 13 consecutive sellouts heading into the 2024 opener against Chattanooga on Aug. 31. That’s especially notable considering Neyland Stadium touts a capacity of 101,915 as the sixth-largest college stadium in the country.

Last season, UT led the SEC in total home attendance (713,405) and average home attendance (101,915). That ranked third and fourth, respectively, in the nation.

How Danny White, Josh Heupel teamed up for ticket sales spike

The season-ticket sales surge coincides with the tenures of White and coach Josh Heupel, beginning in the 2021 season.

Heupel has an 18-4 record at Neyland Stadium. That included a 14-game home winning streak bookended by losses to Georgia in 2021 and 2023. It was UT’s longest home winning streak since winning 23 straight from 1996-2000.

White, who hired Heupel, created UT’s strategic plan with ambitious goals for season-ticket sales, which have all been surpassed.

“Vol Nation has proven once again why they are the best fan base in all of sports,” White said in a statement. “It’s truly remarkable to think that we have sold out all 70,000+ of our season tickets for the second straight year. We can't wait to host everyone again this fall on Rocky Top!”

Here are Tennessee football's year-by-year season ticket sales

In the past 23 years, UT has sold out of season tickets three times — once under Butch Jones (2016) and twice under Heupel (2023, 2024). Sales dropped in each of Jeremy Pruitt's three seasons.

Here are the season ticket sales figures from the past 10 seasons and the coach that year:

• 2015: 67,257 (Jones)

• 2016: 73,116 (Jones)

• 2017: 69,073 (Jones)

• 2018: 65,435 (Pruitt)

• 2019: 62,560 (Pruitt)

• 2020: Limited capacity due to pandemic (Pruitt)

• 2021: 52,236 (Heupel)

• 2022: 61,490 (Heupel)

• 2023: 70,500 (Heupel)

• 2024: 70,500 (Heupel)
