Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Tee Higgins - an Oak Ridge (Tenn.) High School standout - appears to have avoided a long-term rib injury.

Higgins, in the final year of his contract with the Bengals, suffered a fractured rib against the Titans on Sunday. He was ruled out to return and questions about the amount of time he would miss began to swirl after the 27-3 loss.

Speaking to the local media on Monday, Higgins didn’t rule out playing this week when the Bengals travel to Arizona to take on the Cardinals. The fourth-year wide receiver said it’s all going to come down to how the rib heals from a soreness and pain tolerance standpoint.

If Higgins is unable to play against the Cardinals, he said he hopes to be able to play in Week 6 when the Bengals host the Seattle Seahawks on Oct. 15.

At 1-3, the Bengals are hoping to turn their season around and get to 3-3 at the bye week. Having Higgins in the lineup gives the Bengals the best chance to stack wins.
