Team tennis: Scarsdale and Bronxville extend Section 1's dominance at state championships

FLUSHING − The NYSPHSAA team championship has only been in existence for three years. Every year, Section 1 has won the title.

Bronxville and Scarsdale kept the streak alive on Friday afternoon at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center.

The Broncos won the Division 2 title for the first time in program history, beating Section 8's Cold Spring Harbor by the score of 3-2.

Section 1 singles champion Victoria McEnroe, Hannah Shammas, and the doubles team of Rose Woolery and Astrid Pulkkinen won their respective matches to seal the win.

"It means so much to the school," McEnroe said. "Tennis has never accomplished so much so it adds a whole new dimension to the athletics at Bronxville. All our sports teams always do really well, but now we van add tennis to the list."
