Tate track and field has two third-place finishes at Class 4A state meet | AREA ROUNDUP

The Florida high school track and field season has officially concluded, after Class 4A had its state championship meet on Saturday.

Spring sports are entering their last week of action next week as the school year comes to a close.

Here's a roundup of area contests that occurred on Saturday, May 18.

Track and field

Class 4A state championship meet: The University of North Florida hosted the state track and field championship meet for Class 4A.

Athletes from Pace, Navarre and Tate all competed in Jacksonville, even with weather delays earlier in the meet.

On the boys side, Pace was the area's top team with a 33rd-place finish, earning seven points. Tate wasn't far behind in 35th with six points, followed by Navarre with five points in 38th.

For the girls, Tate claimed 30th with six points, while Pace finished 36th with five points.

Here are the final finishes for area athletes. First- through eighth-place finishes earned points.

Boys

  • High jump: Terence Marshall (Navarre) – 5 feet, 11.5 inches (15th)

  • Javelin: Edward O'Brien (Tate) – 182 feet, 11 inches (3rd); Brayden Gates (Pace) – 177 feet, 10 inches (6th)

  • Pole vault: Garren Lattig (Navarre) – 13 feet, 3.5 inches (8th)

  • Discus: Brayden Gates (Pace) – 123 feet, 4 inches (17th)

  • 110-meter hurdles: Jiavers Yacinthe (Pace) – 14.71 seconds (5th)

  • 100-meter dash: Terence Marshall (Navarre) – 10.916 seconds (5th)

  • 400-meter hurdles: Latrell Dukes (Tate) – 55.58 seconds (10th)

Girls

  • Pole vault: Payton Kanis (Pace) – 10 feet, 4 inches (10th)

  • Discus: Rylee Henderson (Pace) – 139 feet, 3 inches (4th)

  • Shot put: Christina Lett (Tate) – 40 feet, 4.25 inches (3rd)

  • 4x800-meter relay: Pace (Grace Manor, Bree Stankard, Alexis Parker, Alyssa Clark) – 9 minutes, 48.53 seconds (15th)
