SWFL HS Roundup: Volleyball, golf, and bowling results from Sept. 4-9

A roundup of Southwest Florida high school sports played the week of Sept. 4-9.

High school golf: The 2023 Southwest Florida boys and girls golfers to watch

THURSDAY

Volleyball

Evangelical Christian 3, SFCA 2: The King's fell to the Sentinels in five sets 25-17, 14-25, 19-25, 25-22, 16-14. Sydney Strom tallied 10 kills and three blocks for ECS, while Ashlyn Anderson added 11 kills, four aces, four blocks and 12 assists. Hayden Hendrix notched five kills and five blocks in the win, and Demi Ritchie tacked on nine digs. Bianka Noah and Haylee Masiero notched 14 kills each for SFCA.

Bishop Verot 3, Oasis 0: Kerrigan Habing led the Vikings in blocks, while Marissa Peck led in digs in the Vikings' sweep, 25-20, 25-10, 25-21. Sarah Mickulus, Gigi Diecedue, Jordan Baksh combined for more than 50 digs for the Sharks.

Fort Myers 3, Bonita Springs 0: Fort Myers remains undefeated through five games after Ashlee Tenkley had 14 kills, nine digs, and three blocks in the Greenies' win on Thursday. Jessica McKee had nine kills and three blocks, while Addi Sprecher tallied 17 assists, three digs, and three aces for Fort Myers.

Gulf Coast 3, Palmetto Ridge 0: The Sharks move to 4-0 on the season behind a sweep over the Bears 25-8, 25-11, 25-12. Brooke Pierce registered nine kills, seven digs, three aces while libero Casey Williams racked up 18 digs and five aces.

Aubrey Rogers 3, Golden Gate 1: The Patriots downed the Titans in four sets 20-25, 25-11, 25-19, 25-20. Emilie Perez posted 17 kills while Julia Rook dished out 32 assists.

First Baptist 3, Charlotte 0: The Lions made quick work in their straight set win 25-19, 25-16, 25-20. Zara Stewart notched a double-double with 25 kills and 15 digs.

Canterbury 3, Riverdale 0: Olivia Znotens tallied 12 kills and nine digs for the Raiders.

Naples 3, Lely 0: Cynthia Powell had nine kills for the Trojans, while Kyra Schmid tallied four aces in the loss.

Boys Bowling

Bishop Verot 3, Lehigh 2: Lehigh's Nair Alvarez bowled a perfect game for the Lightning in their loss to the Vikings. CJ Carranza led Bishop Verot with a 236, while Seamus Murray rolled a 206.

Cypress Lake 5, South Fort Myers 0: Chayce Stouffer rolled a team-best 172 for the Panthers.

Cape Coral def. North Fort Myers (forfeit): Randy Ayala bowled a 246 in the Seahawks' default win.

Oasis def. East Lee County (forfeit): Charles Broadley led the Sharks with a 147 with three strikes and three spares, while Nicolas Grande rolled a 104 with two strikes and one spare.

Girls Bowling

Bishop Verot 4, Lehigh 1: Izzy Lentz rolled a 135 in the Vikings' win.

Cypress Lake 5, South Fort Myers 0: Mackenzy Stouffer led the Panthers with a 190 in the winning effort.

Oasis def East Lee County (forfeit): Katarina Hagler bowled a 243 for the Sharks with 10 strikes and one spare. Meesha Neujahr rolled a 161 with three strikes and four spares while Lexi Lenius added a 132 with three strikes and three spares.

Cape Coral def. North Fort Myers (forfeit): Paige Williams rolled a 216 for Cape Coral.

Girls Golf

North Fort Myers def. Cypress Lake: Jamie Lowry started off hot for the Panthers, holing a birdie, an eagle, and another birdie to start the round before carding a 30 through nine holes and finishing first overall. Emma Erfourth finished fourth for Cypress Lake with a 62.

Community School of Naples def. First Baptist: CSN's Reilly Kirwin and FBA's Eva Lye both shot 1-under for a first-place tie.

Cape Coral 3, Lehigh 1: The Seahawks downed the Lightning 24-26, 25-21, 25-23, 26-24.

Aubrey Rogers 3, LaBelle 2: The Patriots grabbed another five-set win, winning 21-25, 25-23, 21-25, 25-18, 15-8 over the Cowgirls. Angel Dorta-Chavez had 20 digs and 5 aces, while Mica Fallon added 10 kills.

Girls Golf

Community School of Naples def. Barron Collier: Eighth-grader Reilly Kirwin notched a match-best 1-over par for the Seahawks, while eighth-grader Isabella Michetti followed closely with a 2-over for CSN.

Volleyball

Bishop Verot 3, Estero 0: The Vikings picked up their sixth win of the season by downing the Wildcats in straight sets 25-23, 25-19, 25-20.

Fort Myers 3, Riverdale 1: The Green Wave move to 4-0 after defeating the Raiders in four sets, 25-19, 25-13, 23-25, 25-18. Ashlee Tenkley tallied 15 kills, nine digs, and two aces for Fort Myers, while Gabby Dwyer added eight aces, seven kills, and five blocks to the win. Erin McDowell dished out 22 assists and registered six digs and three aces. Olivia Znotens led the Raiders with 26 kills and 11 digs, while Emily Grant tallied 29 assists in the loss.

Marco Island 3, Evangelical Christian 0: The Manta Rays swept the Sentinels 25-17, 25-21, 25-20. Ashlyn Anderson and Sydney Strom had eight kills each for ECS, while Tia Holt added 10 digs.

Bonita Springs 3, Cape Coral 0: The Bull Sharks handled the Seahawks in straight sets 25-6, 25-17, 25-22.

Ida Baker 196, Mariner 218: DJ Dwire shot a match-best 38 for the Tritons. Randy Wood added a 54 to Mariner's scorecard, while Brayden Nagel and Gavin June added 63s.

Fort Myers 162, Cypress Lake 189: Hayden Palmer led the Green Wave past the Panthers after shooting a team-best 39, while Sam McDonald, Ben Obrien, Luke Scrabis, and Ashton Mora contributed to the win. Trevor Hamilton led Cypress with a 39.

Girls Golf

Ida Baker vs. Mariner: There were no team scores from the match at Coral Oaks Golf Course but the Bulldogs were led by Gia Serrano (48) and Maggie Paolino (54) and the Tritons got a 48 from Jada Kohlmeier and a 60 from Keren Farhart.

Girls Bowling

Oasis 773, Gateway 207: Katarina Hagler was lights out in the Sharks' win, bowling a 267 with 9 strikes and 2 spares for the Sharks, while Meesha Neujahr added a 186 with 4 strikes and 6 spares. Lexi Lenius rounded out the winning effort with a 168 with 3 strikes and 3 spares.

Mariner 5, Fort Myers 0: Malia Araujo led the Tritons with a 136 and Samantha Contino rolled a 120.

Cypress Lake 5, Estero 0: Mackenzy Stouffer rolled a 192 for the Panthers, while Taylor Shaw's 124 led the Wildcats.

Bishop Verot 5, East Lee County 0 (forfeit).

Cape Coral def. Riverdale (forfeit): Brooke Pabst notched a 168 in Cape Coral's default win.

Boys Bowling

Gateway def. Oasis: Charles Broadley led the Sharks with a 141 and 1 strike and 4 spares. Nicolas Grande and Jason Pina both rolled a 125 with a combined total of 5 strikes and 4 spares for Oasis.

Cypress Lake 5, Estero 0: Chayce Stouffer rolled a 203 in the Panthers' win, while Brett Kuieck led the Wildcats with a 147.
