ALLOUEZ – The neighborhood where former Green Bay Packers coach and general manager Vince Lombardi lived was added to the State Register of Historic Places by the Wisconsin Historical Society.

The Sunset Circle Residential Historic District is between Riverside Drive and Sunset Park on the Fox River. The historical society said the district is a distinct concentration of houses that represent high-style interpretations of the Colonial Revival and Mansard styles popularized in the 20th century.

The district includes 16 houses built between 1940 and 1989.

The Lombardi house carries its own significance because of its association with Green Bay Packers head coach Vince Lombardi. Vince and Marie Lombardi had the house built and they lived there through most of their time in Green Bay.

Lombardi was head coach of the Packers from 1959 to 1967, during which the team won five NFL championships and two Super Bowls. He is a member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame and the Green Bay Packers Hall of Fame, and the NFL's Super Bowl trophy is named for him. He died in 1970.

There are 65 listings in Brown County on the State Register of Historic Places.
