Suns general manager claims Nets never wanted to trade Kevin Durant

Even though Kevin Durant requested a trade request from the Brooklyn Nets and there were discussions of a trade to the Suns, Phoenix’s general manager claims that the team never intended to trade the sharpshooting forward.

Suns GM James Jones talked with The Arizona Republic about the trade rumors:

“We had discussions with Brooklyn about their desires and what they were trying to do, but ultimately, I would say like most teams, there was nothing to it.

Cause Brooklyn wanted to keep Kevin Durant in Brooklyn. And that’s why he’s in Brooklyn and not on some other team, but as far as with us, I get it. It’s always a great topic of discussion, but the one thing people forget is that when you’re talking about trades, or any player acquisition, the team that has the player has to be willing to move the player.”

It seems that even though the Suns were interested in acquiring Durant, the Nets were never really interested in exploring a trade with the franchise.
