Local Sports: Whiteford boys win; Summerfield, Bedford set records
STOCKBRIDGE – Whiteford’s track and field team visited the Stockbridge Invitational for the first time Friday to be tested by some new competition.
The Bobcat boys were more than equal to the task, scoring 104.5 points to finish 20.5 ahead of runner-up Tecumseh.
“We go to these meets to be pushed and to help prepare us for the regional and state meets,” Whiteford coach Jay Yockey said.
Track and Field: Milan sprinters push each other
Keegan Masters won the 1,600 meters in 4:35.26 and also ran on the winning 3,200 relay with Zach Kahn, Jakub Diesing, and Brek Ruddy.
Brock Norman was second in the 100 meters and Nate Andrews, Brek Ruddy, Jess Saylor and Ryin Ruddy took second in the 1,600 relay with a time of 3:32.79 that ranks in the top four in Division 3 this season.
Rylie DeSilvis had a personal-best of 15-9 in the long jump and also took fifth in the 100 and sixth in the 200 for Whiteford’s girls, who finished fifth.

Bedford sets record
OREGON, Ohio – Bedford’s 3,200-meter relay of Cameron Varner, Maddi Duke, Nick Balla, and Jack Durivage set a meet record with a time of 8:07.9 in taking first at the Clay Invitational Friday.
The Mules we fourth in the team standings with seconds by Sawyer Ulery (high hurdles), the thrower relay (Jordan Belknap, Trenton LaChance, Logan Benjamin, Mason Shultz) and the 1,600 relay (Owen Przybylski, Duke, Alex Mapes, Durivage).
Summerfield record falls
ONSTED – Summerfield set a school record in the girls 3,200-meter relay during the Onsted Invitational Friday.
Makenzie Wolfe, Sophie Stanger, Mia Miller and Grace Raymond were clocked at 10:48.18 in placing third.
Bethany Suydam won the long jump at 15-9 and Cameron Taylor was third in the low hurdles.

Teddy Gault won the boys long jump at 20-11 and was second in the high jump and high hurdles.
Summerfield’s boys finished fourth in the team standings and the girls were sixth.
Milan relays win
MANCHESTER – Milan’s boys won the 400 and 800-meter relays at the Manchester Metric Relays Friday.
Nolan Matley, Adam Johnson and Virgile Gruwez-Guinet ran on both relays. Gavin Tomecek, completed the 400 team and Noah Bussell ran with the 800 team.
Milan’s girls won the sprint-medley 1,600 (Kailey McDaniel, Angelina Wilson, Madison Lancaster, Amerie Wilson) and distance medley 4,000 (Madison Ross, Azariah Spence, McDaniel, Amerie Wilson).
Marissa Beck, Mary-Kate Wayne and Olivia Henry finished 1-2-4 in the girls shot-put.
Nolff wins hurdles
WARREN – Sophia Nolff won the high hurdles and Dundee also took first in the girls throwers’ relay of Aubrey Przybylski, Lily Homrich, Cameron Kidd and Taylor Schneider at the Dan Simeck Invitational at Warren Woods Tower Friday.
Maddie Salenbien was second in the 200, Lily Ratliff third in long jump and Gwen Pahl was third in High Jump
The boys team got wins from Isaak Rubley (1,600) and Dallas Bensch (pole vault). Braiden Whitaker, Danny Kreger, Rubley Jackson Martin (long jump and the 3,200 relay of Matt Morales, TK Westbrook, Caiden Brown and Ethan Eby.
The Coed 1,600 relay of Salenbien, Natalie Swisher, Rubley and Bensch was second.
Ida, Flat Rock go 1-2
FLAT ROCK – Ida won the girls portion of the Flat Rock Rams Relays Friday with the host team second.
Flat Rock’s wins came from Keola Botts and Destiny Lockhart in the shot-put, Botts and Makayla Beckes in the discus and the 800 relay of Reagan Higdon, S'Miya Shaw, Sophia Chan and McKenna Williams.
Monroe’s Simmons places
SALINE – Teegan Simmons was second in the discus and fourth in the shot-put for Monroe in the Saline Golden Triangle Invitational Friday.
Gibraltar Carlson’s Jon Anderson took third in the 3,200 meters.
PREP GOLF
Dundee takes title
OTTAWA LAKE – Dundee shot a round of 162 to beat Blissfield by four strokes in a Lenawee County Athletic Association jamboree at Whiteford Valley Friday.
Carter Bahn shot 37 and Andy Barnes 38 to lead the Vikings. Levi Evans (40) and Trent Vajcner (47) rounded out the top four.
Ida was third with 169 as Zackary Bailey carded a 41, Wade Johnston and Davin Slater 42 and Michael Wolfe 44.
Rogier leads Flat Rock
NEW BOSTON – Laren Rogier shot a medalist round 37 to lead Flat rock to a 169-175 win over St. Mary Catholic Central Friday at Willow Metropark.
Joel Scully added a 41, Mitchell Smith 44 and Ben Scully 47.
Domenic Marvaso and Drew Vuich both shot 42 for SMCC.
Devils handle Jefferson
GROSSE ILE – Jefferson’s Ben Peer tied for the second-best round of the day with a 46, but the Bears fell 185-217 to Grosse Ile at Water’s Edge Golf Club Friday.
PREP SOFTBALL
Airport sweeps Ida
CARLETON – Olivia Tilley had three hits in the first game and Danielle Dalpiaz did the same in the second as Airport swept Ida 7-0 and 5-3 Friday.
Tilley had five hits for the day and stole four bases in the opener.
RaeAnn Drummond tossed a two-hit shutout in the first game and Alayna McDaniel won the second.
Raschel Weaver and Jillian Baker led the defense.

Kinsey scores four
WILLIS – Nora Kinsey scored half of St. Mary Catholic Central’s goals in an 8-0 win over Ypsilanti Lincoln Friday.
Quinn Harrington added a pair of goals and Alex Wickenheiser and Isbella Morin also scored for the 3-11-1 Kestrels.

Two hits for Keane
OTTAWA LAKE – Logan Keane logged two of Whiteford’s six hits in an 8-4 loss to Evergreen (Ohio) Friday.
The Bobcats dipped to 15-2.

Bedford girls triumph
TEMPERANCE – Bedford’s girls posted a 7-5 win over Maumee Valley Country Day Friday.
