Sturgis tennis remains unbeaten following win on Monday

STURGIS - The Sturgis tennis team remained unbeaten following a dual matchup win on Monday afternoon.

The Trojans hosted Plainwell at Augspurger Courts and won all eight flights. With the win, the Sturgis team is now 2-0 in dual matchups plus a quad victory that saw them pick up three wins on Saturday as well.

In Monday's tennis action, the Trojans won by default at fourth singles and fourth doubles because Plainwell did not have student athletes at those positions.

The Trojans piled up victories in the other six matchups as well, all in straight sets.

First singles saw Rylee Carver beat Brooke Pazderka by a score of 6-0, 6-2. In second singles action Gracie Perry beat Alydia Thom 6-1, 6-0 and at third singles, Katherine Steele picked up a 6-0, 6-1 victory over Anna Hall.

In doubles action, the Trojans cruised to three wins.

Johanna Rooyakkers and Bella Currier won at first doubles, they beat Claire Pipkorn and Tessa Marietta by scores of 6-0 and 6-0.

The second doubles team of Arianna Terwedo and Chloe Clark win over Elise Fontaine and Ava Stanton 6-2 and 6-3.

Nghi Ngo and Katelyn Halling won at third doubles. They beat Miko Kizuka and Audrey Thorm by scores of 6-0 and 6-0.
