Hooks complete sweep of RockHounds with convincing Sunday win

Highlights: JC Correa had a big night at the plate, hitting a key two-out, two-run single in the third and then added a solo home run in the eighth to add onto the total. The Hooks swept the series and have won seven straight games, and it marks the first time the Hooks have swept a six-game series in the Texas League's current format.

Highlights: The Hooks rode Colton Gordon to their fifth consecutive win and fourth straight win to open the home stand against Midland. Gordon tossed 5.1 innings, allowing one run on one hit, striking out nine. At the plate Corpus Christi pounded out 13 hits, paced by Drew Gilbert and Zach Daniels who each had three-hit games at the top two spots in the order. Jordan Brewer started the offense with a two-run double in the third and Colin Barber knocked in two runs in the win.

Highlights: The Hooks produced their third consecutive one-run victory on Thursday, but it didn't take any late-inning heroics this time. Blair Henley allowed one run in five innings and Angel Macuare made it stand up, picking up his second save of the season with four shutout innings, scattering three hits. The only offense Corpus Christi needed came in the second inning on a two-run Chad Stevens home run. The RockHounds got one back in the third on an RBI from Denzel Clarke.

Highlights: C.J. Stubbs produced some ninth-inning heroics for the second consecutive game after the RockHounds tied the game in the top of the inning. Stubbs' RBI single was his second game-winning hit in as many nights. His RBI helped Corpus Christi hold off the hard-charging visitors, who plated five runs in the final two innings to catch the Hooks. The top third of the Hooks lineup: Kenedy Corona, Drew Gilbert and Joey Loperfido knocked in six of the team's eight runs and each smashed a home run in the victory.

Highlights: The Hooks overcome a four-spot from Midland in the top of the first inning, scratching their way back into the game until a three-inning flurry to end the game put them over the top. Corpus Christi plated two runs in the seventh and added a single run in the eighth before winning in its last at-bat as C.J. Stubbs homered in the bottom of the ninth to give the Hooks the win.
