Need a strong veep? Bijan Robinson is super popular, can deliver Texas and Georgia | Bohls

Would Robert F. Kennedy Jr. draft Bijan Robinson to be on his presidential ticket, age restrictions notwithstanding? He could do a lot worse than the stand-up, personable former Texas Longhorn, who just might deliver electoral votes from Texas, Georgia and Arizona.

Aaron Rodgers? Really?

Apparently so. The New York Times reported that independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. is seriously considering the New York Jets quarterback as well as former pro wrestler and Minnesota Gov. Jesse Ventura as his potential running mate for the November election.

The 40-year-old Rodgers, a four-time NFL MVP and an anti-vaxxer, has strongly supported Kennedy, who said he will announce his vice presidential nominee March 26. Of course, Rodgers would presumably have to give up his day job.

Got me to thinking. Surely Kennedy could do better than the lightning rod that is the needy, has-to-be-the-center-of-attention Rodgers.

Heck, Texas alone can offer better candidates:

How about Bijan Robinson?

Everybody loves the former Longhorns running back. He never has a bad thing to say about anyone. Couldn’t we use a little civility in what promises to be the ugliest campaign season on record?

Besides, with Robinson on the ticket, he’d probably carry the swing states of Texas; Georgia, as the Falcons’ top running back; and Arizona, his home state. Critics are still investigating shenanigans concerning the 2020 election in Georgia and Arizona so Kennedy could use a pristine running mate. Problem is, Robinson has never uttered the word conspiracy. Yeah, he's too young, but he's wise beyond his years.

Not buying Bijan?

Chris Del Conte, right, already runs UT athletics, which is pretty much the same as running a country. And he loves to campaign. And raise money. As for Longhorns women's basketball coach Vic Schaefer, left, he hopes to be busy for a while in the NCAA Tournament.

How about Chris Del Conte?

He’s already a vice president at the university in charge of athletics. He’s a California native, so the Texas athletic director could be the difference in that state’s 54 electoral votes. We know he likes to talk, so he’d be a tireless campaigner. Plus he could save on expenses by driving to every campaign stop instead of flying.

Not sold?

Golden: Jonathon Brooks would look just perfect in a Dallas Cowboys helmet, Mr. Jones

What about Brock Cunningham?

Let’s be honest. The man needs a job. He’s used to the hard knocks necessary and is willing to do the dirty work.

Wait, you say the Constitution insists a candidate must be at least 35 years old to hold the office? Damn, I thought Brock was at least 35. My bad. It's a silly rule anyway. Worthy is worthy.

I’ve got more.

No one knows winning better than swim coach Eddie Reese. And I think he’s a little over 35. Steve Sarkisian probably doesn’t want to take a pay cut.

Rori Harmon’s unfortunately got some free time. Baseball coach David Pierce can throw hard balls. Second baseman Dee Kennedy could provide a Kennedy-Kennedy ticket. Edrick Floréal can run circles around anyone. Did I mention Jerritt Elliott?

Sure, this is a little tongue-in-cheek humor, but that's where a lot of politicians' tongues should stay since they couldn't speak as a result.
