Stock up, stock down following the Bills’ divisional loss to the Chiefs

The Buffalo Bills welcomed the Kansas City Chiefs to Highmark Stadium on Sunday for their AFC Divisional round matchup and loss 27-24. Coming into Sunday, much was made about the contest given the history between these two teams, especially in the postseason.

While Bills fans finally had seats to sit in thanks to the snow being successfully shoveled this time around, they were treated to a game that ultimately had them leaving in tears and not of the good kind. As has been the case in almost every matchup between these teams, it a was nip-and-tuck game with plenty of questionable plays/calls to go around for both sides.

Despite both teams playing well, the sad part about these games is that only one team can win and unfortunately for Buffalo fans, the Chiefs emerge victorious. Here is the Bills’ stock report following the loss that now begins their offseason that could present plenty of changes:

Stock up: QB Josh Allen

While Allen did not light up this game with his passing, but he was the epitome of a dual-threat. He put up three total touchdowns and was able to keep Kansas City on its toes through how well he was running the football, accounting for 72 rushing yards and two rushing touchdowns.

Stock down: WR Stefon Diggs

Diggs did not show up for this game and it has been some time since we have seen him have one of his signature performances. While it was clear that the Chiefs were doing everything possible to prevent Diggs from getting anything easy, it was still disappointing to see him being unable to impact this game in any meaningful way.

Stock up: S Jordan Poyer

Like he has been throughout this season, Poyer made big plays for the Bills in this one and he played a crucial role in limiting how many big plays Kansas City was able to generate over the course of the game. Poyer is someone who has been a steadying presence for Buffalo all season long and this game showed why.

Stock down: DE Greg Rousseau

Rousseau has been one of the key members of the Bills’ defensive line throughout this season and yet, that’s why his stock is down after this contest. He wasn’t able to create any pressure against Patrick Mahomes and as a result, his impact on the game was minimal at best.

Stock up: WR Khalil Shakir

Shakir has been breaking out for the Bills over the course of this season and he showed why against the Chiefs. Shakir made some timely plays in this one and he displayed on national TV why Bills fans are excited about his future with the team.

Stock down: RB James Cook

Cook had a tough task ahead of him as he had to try to run the football against a stacked Kansas City front given how aware they are of what Cook can do when he gets going. He did not have a terrible game by any means, but he did not have the superstar-like impact that he has had at various times this season.
