Steve Kerr reveals thought process behind guarding Jaylen Brown
The Golden State Warriors‘ decision to sag off Jaylen Brown at the three point line has emerged as a central talking point following the Warriors blow out loss to the Boston Celtics. Brown shot 5-of-10 from the perimeter and quickly emerged as a central figure in the Celtics scoring surge against a jaded Warriors roster.
After the game, head coach Steve Kerr detailed his reasoning behind asking Draymond Green to focus on defending the drive rather than limiting Boston’s All-Star forward on the perimeter. Kerr noted how he was trying something different as he tried to find an advantage for the Warriors to exploit.
“You try different things,” Kerr said. “You pick your matchups. We wanted Draymond to be able to help on drives and make sure we weren’t giving up easy stuff in the paint. The killer was in transition, from the beginning of the game to the end.”
Despite the loss, the Warriors ended their Eastern Conference road trip with a 3-1 record. They remain are two and a half games behind the Sacramento Kings, who occupy the sixth seed in the West, a spot that guarantee’s playoff participation without the need for the play-in tournament.

Golden State must put this loss in the rearview. They will now head back to the Bay Area, where they take on the Milwaukee Bucks on Wednesday (March 6.) After a strong run following their return from the All-Star break, the Warriors will need to bounce back from their latest loss with a strong showing against the Bucks if they want to keep pushing toward their goal of reaching the sixth seed.
