UMBC gets a special gift from Steph Curry before Kansas State game

The perks for being the first No. 16 seed to beat a No. 1 seed in the NCAA tournament just keep on coming.

UMBC got a special gift from Steph Curry before the Retrievers’ second-round game against Kansas State on Sunday. UMBC gets its uniforms and shoes from Under Armour and Curry is UA’s most prominent basketball player. So UMBC players got Curry’s new shoes.

If the “look-good-play-good” mantra holds true, UMBC should be in great shape against the No. 8 seed Wildcats. Under Armour released 314 pairs of the Curry 5 shoes on March 14 and will release a bigger allotment to the public on April 14.

The man behind the UMBC Athletics Twitter feed emerged as a star during the team’s upset win over Virginia on Friday and he was at it again on Sunday. The UMBC account was going back and forth with the K-State account.
