Steelers' Sanders will appeal fake-injury fine
Emmanuel Sanders isn't going down quickly when it comes to paying a fine.
The Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver announced Saturday that he would appeal a $15,000 fine he received from the NFL for allegedly faking an injury.
"We are going to appeal it, and that's it," Sanders said, according to the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review.
The punishment stems from an incident in the Steelers' 24-17 win over the Cincinnati Bengals on Oct. 21. Sanders went down with an alleged leg injury just before a Pittsburgh huddle. He returned after missing just one play, with the Steelers having saved a timeout.
The league ruled that Sanders made up the injury, issuing not just the personal fine, but also a $35,000 penalty for the Steelers.
According to the Tribune-Review, Sanders' teammates are taking the receiver's side.
"Emmanuel is a stand-up guy, and he is going to do what he needs to do, and everything is going to work out," offensive guard Willie Colon told the newspaper.
