Steelers fans to set the tone on Sunday vs the Ravens

The story on Sunday might not have anything to do with the final score of this week’s game. When the Pittsburgh Steelers and Baltimore Ravens square off, the biggest story might be the reaction of the fan base.

Steelers fans have joined the scores of NFL pundits and writers who are calling for the Steelers to fire offensive coordinator Matt Canada for the good of the franchise. However, head coach Mike Tomlin remains stubborn in his stance that this team isn’t making any staff changes.

But if things go wrong on Sunday with the offense, you are going to hear more boos and “fire Canada” chants than ever. And it isn’t going to be something the media will be able to ignore and it won’t be something Tomlin can ignore.

There have even been some rumblings that the fans aren’t secretly rooting for a loss this week to force Tomlin’s hand. That’s definitely a step too far and no one should actively cheer for Pittsburgh to lose if you are a fan.

Nevertheless, as someone who has been a fan of the Steelers for 45 years and watched them trot out some terrible teams, I don’t think I’ve ever seen a fanbase so furious with the situation. This could be the ugliest scene at home for Pittsburgh in a very long time if the offense doesn’t come out of the gates fast.
