State-ranked Bedford gives Monroe lessons on winning

TEMPERANCE – Monroe girls basketball coach Trent Moody is trying to teach his team how to win.

The Trojans got a good lesson from Bedford Tuesday night.

The Mules have done nothing but win this season since dropping their season opener with a depleted roster.

Bedford extended its winning streak to 14 games by beating its arch-rival 49-20 Tuesday.

“Bedford is a very good team and they play hard every night,” Moody said.

“We had some sloppy turnovers and we weren’t the most efficient, but we aren’t worried,” Moody said. “Our last few games we have had success from the 3-point line but not tonight.”

Monroe made just one 3-pointer in falling to 5-12.

Our girls do a lot of great things and we are just finding our balance and consistency which will come,” Moody said. “Our record may not indicate a successful year but I think our girls are grown substantially since our first open gym.”

Bad start hurts Whiteford
