Starting 5: Former Trinity football coach Bob Beatty headlines Hall of Fame class; more
The Louisville Catholic Sports Hall of Fame is scheduled to induct its 10th annual class Monday.
The class is headlined by Bob Beatty, who coached at Trinity High School for 21 seasons. He led the Shamrocks to a 255-43 record, winning 15 state football titles. Mark Evans, a multisport coach at Mercy Academy, Kent Taylor (media nomination) and Charlie Just (played basketball at St. Xavier and coached for 42 years including stints at Bellarmine and Spalding) are among those to be inducted.
Around the city: Sacred Heart players earn McDonald's All American Game nominations
Sacred Heart seniors Reagan Bender and Angelina Pelayo are among the nominees for the 2024 McDonald's All American Games. The games are scheduled April 2 in Houston. The top 24 boys and top 24 girls will be announced Jan. 23.

Pelayo is a UNC-Wilmington signee, and Bender is mulling offers from six schools including Louisville. Bender is averaging 13.7 points per game on 44.9% shooting from the field. Pelayo is averaging 9.7 points and 4.7 rebounds per game.
High school recruiting: Trinity sophomore Jayden Johnson announces Ohio State offer
Trinity's Jayden Johnson, a four-star sophomore combo guard, announced he received an offer from Ohio State. Johnson is averaging 11.2 points and 5.3 rebounds per game for the Shamrocks. Johnson holds offers from Xavier, Michigan, Ohio State, Missouri, Texas A&M and Cincinnati.

Jasper Johnson, a five-star combo guard from Woodford County, scored a game-high 37 points (including 10 3-pointers) to help Link Academy defeat Huntington Prep, 90-72, on Jan. 7 at the Court XIV Classic to honor his late grandfather and former Yellow Jackets coach, Alvis Johnson.

Bellarmine women's basketball is set to host North Alabama at 6:30 p.m. Thursday and Central Arkansas at 1 p.m. Saturday.
Louisville women's golf is traveling to Naples, Florida, to play Indiana on Tuesday.
Bellarmine women's tennis is scheduled to visit Indiana at 4 p.m. Monday and visit Western Kentucky at 7 p.m. Friday.
Louisville women's tennis is set to host Lipscomb at 11 a.m. Saturday and Eastern Kentucky at 5 p.m. Saturday.
Louisville men's tennis is scheduled to host Xavier at noon Wednesday and Bellarmine at 5 p.m. Wednesday at the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center.
Bellarmine track and field is set to host the Bellarmine Open on Friday at the Norton Healthcare Sports & Learning Center. Louisville track and field is among the teams scheduled to compete.
Bellarmine wrestling is scheduled to host Presbyterian at 7 p.m. Friday.
Play of the week: Cole Edelen's no-look assist to Max Gainey
Male sophomore Cole Edelen wowed the crowd with a no-look assist to senior Max Gainey, who knocked down a 3-pointer to give the Bulldogs a 23-point lead in their first-round Republic Bank Louisville Invitational Tournament win over Seneca.
