Starting 5 of the century: Holland girls basketball - vote for the sixth woman

The Sentinel has picked a basketball starting five for each high school from 2000 to the present and will run the all-century teams during the holiday break. Who should join them? Vote for who should be the sixth woman.

Today: Holland girls.

Here is The Holland Sentinel's starting five. Vote for the sixth woman below. The poll will remain open until Jan. 14.

Ari Gray

A great balance of driving and shooting, Gray was a strong presence for the Dutch, in one of their best seasons in two decades as a junior. As a senior, she was under a constant double team and still managed to score in double figures for the Dutch.

Ellie Zomer

A constant ball of energy, Zomer ran the point in Holland's best season in 20 years as a senior. She could shoot, but used her ability to drive to the basket to get the Dutch offense going. She also was s strong on-ball defender and went on to play in college.

Bethany Carlson

One of the best scorers in Holland history, Carlson was an all-around athlete who could shoot the ball extremely well. She also could pass and defend and was one of the top athletes Holland has seen in 20 years.

Alison Scudder

One of the best scorers to come out of Holland, Scudder could shoot and slash with the best in the area. Averaged in double figures and was all-conference twice for the Dutch.

Bria Ebels

Only played a couple of years in this time frame, but they were great as she became perhaps the best basketball player in Holland High School history. Ebels was a deadly shooter but could also defend. She went on to play at Hope College and was Final Four MVP, leading the team to the NCAA championship in 2006.
