Who will start at right guard for the Las Vegas Raiders?
The Raiders have a lot of positional battles going on during camp as they get ready for the 2023 season. But what position battle has the most competition going into the preseason?
In a recent article by Bleacher Report, they took a look at the biggest unanswered questions for the Raiders going into the 2023 season. One of those questions is the state of the offensive line despite the team bringing back all five starters.
One of the positions that is up for grabs is the right guard spot. That spot was maned by Alex Bars last year, but his starting job is anything but secure. Here is a snippet of what Bleacher Report had to say about that battle:
It should also not be surprising that Alex Bars is being challenged for his spot at right guard. He had a 45.4 PFF grade while surrendering five sacks last season. Greg Van Roten, Netane Muti and McClendon Curtis have all taken reps there, per Keefer.
What is tricky about this positional battle is that starting right tackle Jermaine Eluemunor could be an option at right guard if he were to lose his tackle spot to Thayer Munford. That is another positional battle happening in camp and it appears that Munford is closing the gap between the two players.
The Raiders have joint practices scheduled against the 49ers on Thursday and Friday before their preseason contest on Sunday. Those two practices could go a long way in determining who will be the team’s starting right guard (and right tackle) for the 2023 season.
