St. Mary's Springs hockey nets double-OT comeback victory over Brookfield; Ledgers girls hoops fall to Omro

BOYS HOCKEY

St. Mary's Springs 3, Brookfield 2 - (2 OT)

FOND DU LAC - The Ledgers (10-8, 4-1 Badgerland) came from behind, down 2-0, to pick up a gritty non-conference win over the Stars (14-4, 8-0 Classic Eight).

Brookfield scored a goal in each of the first two periods, one from Cooper Simon and the other by Harrison Kennedy, before Springs tied it up with a pair of goals in the third - one from Isaac Sabel and the other from Jaxon Sabel, assisted by Austin Westergaard.

After no score in the first overtime, Armani Fisher buried the game-winning goal for the Ledgers with 4:12 left in the second overtime on assists from Westergaard and Isaac Sabel.

Brendan Gaertig had 42 saves for Springs and Augustus Jones had 26 saves for the Stars.

BOYS BASKETBALL

Kenosha Indian Trail 51, Fond du Lac 50

KENOSHA - After leading by 10 at the break, the Cardinals (7-6, 5-3 Fox Valley Association) were outscored by 11 in the second half to drop a non-conference contest against the Hawks (7-7, 3-3 Southeast).

Ryker Johnson led Fondy with 14 points, Marvin Haslett III chipped in with 12, and Rocky Barfknecht had 10 for the Cardinals.

Manasseh Stackhouse scored a game-high 19 points to lead Kenosha Indian Trail and Silas Bolton followed with 16.

Central Wisconsin Christian 59, Randolph 57

HORICON - The Crusaders (6-6, 3-2 Trailways-East) narrowly defeated the Rockets (9-4, 6-1 Trailways-West) in a Trailways Crossover matchup held at Horicon Elementary School.

Brant Bille led CWC with 17 points and Brock Hoekstra collected a double-double with 12 points and 12 rebounds.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

No. 4 (D-3) Edgewood 50, No. 1 (D-4) Laconia 49

MADISON - After holding a 4-point lead at the half, the Division 4, No. 1-ranked Spartans (14-2, 7-0 Flyway) fell just short in their non-conference matchup with the Division 3, No. 4-ranked Crusaders (13-3, 6-2 Badger-Small).

Finley Morgan led Laconia with 14 points, including four 3-pointers.

Anna Miller scored a game-high 19 points to lead Edgewood.

Omro 61, St. Mary's Springs 58

The Foxes (9-7, 5-3 Flyway) swept the season series against the Ledgers (7-9, 2-6) with a close victory.

Julia Koch led Omro with 23 points, including a perfect 10-for-10 at the free throw line. Madi Brooks added 18 points for the Foxes.
