Spring notebook: Killingly's Lamparelli scores 100th career goal

Week 1 of the spring season featured a number of highlights and top performances.

The Killingly baseball team, which is ranked No. 8 in the GameTimeCT preseason poll, opened its season with a big win at Putnam.

The Norwich Free Academy boys lacrosse team topped Waterford in an ECC Division I battle.

And Killingly senior Emily Lamparelli became the first girls lacrosse player in school history to reach the 100-goal milestone.

Here are the highlights and top performances from Week 1:

Baseball

Landon Manzi allowed just two hits over four innings while striking out eight to lead Killingly to a  season-opening 11-1 road victory over Putnam at Murphy Park.

Mason Frazer powered Killingly’s offense with his first career home run, while Ashton Goodwin went 2-for-5 with a double and two RBIs.

Lincoln Waterman also had two hits and two RBIs, while Joey Gould broke the game open in the second inning with a 3-run double for Killingly (1-0).

Boys lacrosse

Logan Jenkins scored six goals with one assist to lift Norwich Free Academy to a season-opening 12-4 victory over Waterford in an ECC Division I contest.

Conor Gaughan had two goals and one assist, Wyatt Woodcock scored two goals, and CJ Frank added one goal and one assist for the Wildcats.

Luke Wotring finished with 17 saves for NFA (1-0).

Girls lacrosse

Emily Lamparelli scored her 100th career goal in Killingly’s 15-7 season opening win over Griswold/Norwich Tech.

Lamparelli is the first player to reach this milestone in Killingly girls lacrosse history.

Laura Farquhar, Katlyn Cicchetti, Riley Ritchotte, and Catarina Turgeon also scored goals, while Erika Horne made six saves for Killingly (1-0).

Sienna Caron (one assist) and Neiara Myrick each had three goals for Griswold/Norwich Tech (0-1).
