Sports shorts: Flames out-gun Buffaloes in non-league hoops

Dec. 20—Giuseppe Guidi scored 25 points and Noa Rivera had 20 as the Lodi High boys basketball team took down Manteca 74-59 on the road Tuesday.

Nathan Morse added 11 points, Sean Tetz had 10 and Ryan Marini scored 8 as Lodi improved to 8-3. The Flames were scheduled to play at Chavez on Wednesday, and will play in the Desert Holiday Classic in Palm Springs starting on Dec. 27.

Varsity boys: Tokay 65, McNair 60

Four Tokay players scored in double digits in Tuesday's victory, with 15 points from Maeher Dhaliwal, 13 from Jason Hallstrom, 12 from John Carlo Agbayani and 11 from Zeeshaun Akbar.

Jacob Ray added 7 points, Abdullah Munir had 4 and Hashir Khan scored 1 as Tokay improved to 7-8. Tokay will play at Will C. Wood today.

Varsity girls: McNair 64, Tokay 43

The Tigers dropped to 3-7 on Tuesday, and will play in the Tracy Tournament starting on Dec. 27.

Varsity girls: Liberty Ranch 45, Sierra 23

The Hawks cruised to a 26-9 halftime lead during Tuesday's victory, improving to 10-3 overall, and will host Orestimba today.

Varsity girls: Livermore 25, Galt 24

The Warriors dropped to 1-12 with Tuesday's loss, and were scheduled to host Burbank on Wednesday.

JV boys: Lodi 52, Manteca 50

The JV Flames won on Tuesday with 18 points each from Jackson Butler and Habib Khan, improving to 10-4 this season.

JV girls: Pleasant Grove 38, Lodi 34

The JV Flames lost on Tuesday, with 10 points from Paige Buckley, 9 from Lacie Glissman, 8 from Hope Carson and 7 from Kylie Blum.

JV boys: McNair 54, Tokay 51

Asher Pitchford led the Tigers with 13 points in Tuesday's loss, along with 12 from Danyal Khan, 8 from Adrian Vasquez, 7 from Christian Mitchell, 3 each from Noah Gutierrez and Anthony Aguilar, 2 each from Amire Fleming and Jacob Garibaldi, and 1 from Joseph Rodriguez.

Freshman boys: McNair 66, McNair 38

Tanjiro Wallace scored 14 points to lead the Tigers in Tuesday's loss, along with 4 each from Estevan Martinez, Waahib Khan and Amir El Kheidi, and 2 each from Faris Khan, Mason Victor, Lucas Victor, Rameez Jaffar, Adeeb Totakhil and Adeel Khan.

Varsity girls: Lodi 3, Laguna Creek 1

Aubrey Anderson scored off a Samantha Stone assist to give Lodi a 1-0 halftime lead, while Madison Fitzer and Isabella DeValle scored in the second half — Fitzer on a corner kick from Jocelyn Maldonado, and DeValle on another Maldonado assist.

Varsity boys: Fairfield 3, Tokay 2

Tokay dropped to 4-5-2 with Tuesday's loss, and will play Monterey Trail on Friday.

Varsity boys: Pitman 4, Lodi 0

The Flames suffered a shutout on Tuesday, falling to 3-8 this season. Lodi will play at Galt today.

JV girls: Lodi 2, Laguna Creek 1

Bailey nelson scored twice to spur a Lodi comeback after trailing 1-0 at halftime. One goal came on a penalty kick and the other off an assist from Sarah Jimenez.
