Spaulding's Sadie Nadeau, Oyster River's Ethan Brewer are Seacoast Athletes of the Week

The Seacoast high school Athletes of the Week winners for the week of Dec. 25-31 are Oyster River High School basketball player Ethan Brewer and Spaulding High School wrestler Sadie Nadeau. The weekly vote highlighting outstanding high school athletes is presented by York County Community College.

Brewer joins Oyster River teammate Matthew Jernigan and Nadeau joins Dover's Avery Littlefield as this winter season's winners so far.

The weekly poll runs each Monday through midnight Thursday, and can be found at seacoastonline.com/sports and fosters.com/sports.

Nadeau received 29% of the online poll, for a total of 204 votes to earn honors of the week. Portsmouth track and field athlete Lily Jenkins finished second with 174 votes.

Spaulding basketball player Meagan Uraskevich had 116 votes, Oyster River basketball player Vivian O'Quinn had 112 votes and Winnacunnet basketball player Caitlyn Koutalidis had 83 votes, for third through fifth, respectively.

Nadeau finished third overall in the girls 165-pound weight class for Spaulding at the Noble Invitational last Thursday.

"Congratulations to Sadie, our fearless Athlete of the Week," Spaulding head coach Scott Couture said. "She not only excels in competition but also guides teammates with her coachable spirit. A standout moment was her impressive second place finish in the 2023 New Hampshire Girls State Championship, showcasing years of dedicated improvement. Sadie's impact goes beyond personal success, inspiring girls in Rochester to embrace wrestling. As her coach, I'm proud of her journey and this well-deserved recognition. Kudos to you, Sadie!"

Brewer received 32% of the online votes, as his 253 total votes earned Brewer the athlete of the week on the boys side. Marshwood hockey player Brad Wentworth finished second with 120 votes.

Winnacunnet track and field athlete Oliver Duffy had 104 votes, Exeter basketball player Nik Greco had 60 votes and York hockey player Luke Douris had 41 votes, to round out the top five, respectively.

Brewer scored 12 points, grabbed five rebounds and came up with four steals in the Bobcats' 51-28 win over Newmarket last Tuesday.
