Spartans end losing streak

Oct. 26—The Southwestern Spartans volleyball team ended a 12-match losing streak Sunday winning at Lewis and Clark Community College 3-0.

Scores were 25-19, 25-12, 25-23. Samira Baade boosted the team with a team high 12 kills. Hallica Warren Anderson had seven kills. Emily Strait served three aces.

The win came after a string of losses earlier in the weekend. Before Lewis and Clark, Southwestern lost 3-0 at Spoon River. Scores were 25-10, 25-11, 25-19.

Baade had a team high four kills. Greta Petofi had three kills.

Highland Lakes defeated Southwestern 3-2 Saturday in Creston. Scores were 25-20, 25-11, 23-25, 22-25, 15-8.

Beatriz Goncalves finished with 18 kills. Badde had eight kills and eight ace serves.

Iowa Lakes beat Southwestern 3-1 Saturday. Scores were 25-12, 25-23, 15-25, 25-21.

Baade and Warren-Anderson each had seven kills followed by Baade with five. Lexi Hahn had four ace serves and Baade had three.

Southwestern lost 3-0 to Indian Hills Friday by the scores of 25-13, 25-17, 25-9. Petofi and Baade each had three kills.

Southwestern is 3-19 and finished the regular season Wednesday at Southeastern in West Burlington.
