Spartanburg area's top high school fall sports performers: Chesnee volleyball star tops 1,000 assists

The South Carolina high school fall sports season is in full swing. Here are the area's top performers for this week's athletic events featuring schools from Spartanburg, Cherokee and Union counties.

Monday

Boys Swimming

Hunter Bowman, Byrnes: Bowman won the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 24.87 in a meet against Gaffney, Greenville Tech and Oakbrook Prep.

Reece Brooks, Byrnes: Brooks won the 100-yard butterfly, and the 100-yard backstroke. He was also part of the winning 200-yard freestyle relay team and 400-yard freestyle relay team.

Anderson McCarty, Byrnes: McCarty won the 200-yard individual medley and the 500-yard freestyle. He was also part of the 200 freestyle relay team and 400 freestyle relay team.

Mason Seman, Byrnes: Seman won the boys 200-yard freestyle with a time of 2:02.66. He was also part of the 200 freestyle relay team and 400 freestyle relay team.

Girls Swimming

Mary Alice Cooper, Gaffney: Cooper won the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 1:06.25 and finished second in the 50 freestyle

Isabella Sarvis, Byrnes: Sarvis won the 50 freestyle with a time of 25.28 and was part of the winning 200 medley relay team and 200 freestyle relay team. She also finished second in the 100 freestyle.

Bella Strawn, Byrnes: Strawn won the 200 individual medley, the 100 freestyle and was part of both the winning 200 medley relay team and 200 freestyle relay team.

Boys Volleyball

Mark Zdanevich, Boiling Springs: In a 3-1 win over Fort Mill, Zdanevich had a team-high 14 kills.

Antoine Murray, Boiling Springs: Murray had six kills and four blocks.

Tim Okhman, Boiling Springs: Okhman led Boiling Springs with six blocks, while adding seven kills.

Girls Volleyball

Pearl Holloway, Chesnee: In a 3-0 loss at Walhalla, the senior became the second player in program history to surpass the 1,000 career assists mark.

Tuesday

Girls Golf

Olivia Roberts, Chesnee: Roberts led Chesnee to a win at the Lady Rebels Invitational and finished first individually with a score of 66.

Maddie Carraway, Dorman: Carraway led Dorman to a second-place finish with a score of 77 at the Lady Rebels Invitational.

Arley Jennings, Spartanburg Day: Jennings shot a 77 at the Lady Rebels Invitational, tied for the top performance for third-place Spartanburg Day.

Elin Sarstrand, Spartanburg Day: Sarstrand was the other Griffins' top performer, finishing with a 77.

Girls Volleyball

Pearl Holloway, Chesnee: Holloway followed up her record-breaking outing with a sensational performance in a 3-2 loss to Crest (NC) with 14 kills, 29 assists, five aces, three total blocks and 13 digs.

Hayden Roberts, Chesnee: Roberts had 13 kills, 11 digs, six assists and one ace in the Eagles' loss.
