Sunday, Feb. 4

BOYS BASKETBALL

Wareham 86, Bishop Hendricken 62: The Vikings (14-3) beat perennial Rhode Island power Bishop Hendricken behind a balanced offensive attack led by Ajay Lopes (17 points). Antoine Crosson added 14 points while Aaron Cote had 13 and Will Halloran chipped in with 10. “We knew coming in we would have to play very well and that’s exactly what the kids did,” said Wareham coach Steve Faniel. “They were flying around on defense, sprinting up the court on offense and played as a team.”

Saturday, Feb. 3

GIRLS SWIMMING

Southeast Conference championship: The Whalers took first place with 620 points. Bridgewater-Raynham was second (472). Finishing in first place were Annabelle Huston in the 200 freestyle (2:13.69) and 500 freestyle (6:07.41), Serenity Coleman in the 200 IM (2:28.69) and 100 butterfly (1:03.59), Caroline Huston in the 100 freestyle (1:01.07) and 100 backstroke (1:12.71) and Trinity Coleman in the 100 breaststroke (1:15.77). Coming in second place were Hannah Blanchard in the 200 freestyle (2:31.09), Trinity Coleman in the 50 freestyle (26.70) and Amelia Davis in the 100 backstroke (1:18.90). Blanchard took third in the 500 freestyle (6:55.46) while Davis placed fourth in the 200 IM (2:51.82) and Maria Oliveira came in fourth in the 100 butterfly (1:27.57). New Bedford’s 200 medley relay team of Caroline Huston, Trinity Coleman, Serenity Coleman and Annabelle Huston finished first (2:01.30) while the same four teammates also won the 400 freestyle relay (4:04.75).

Catholic Central League championship: The Spartans came in fourth place. Alexa Lopez Vergara qualified for sectionals in the 200 freestyle and 100 butterfly.

BOYS SWIMMING

Southeast Conference championship: New Bedford finished in first place (580 points) followed by Durfee (417). The Whalers got wins from Alex Conde in the 200 IM (sectional-qualifying time of 2:11.49) and 100 butterfly (sectional-qualifying time of 58.34) and Rafael Conde in the 100 backstroke (1:05.07). Coming in second place were Rafael Conde in the 200 freestyle (2:07.03), Owen Jupin in the 50 freestyle (25.16) and 100 freestyle (57.72) and Cairon Nunez in the 100 breaststroke (1:15.14). Nunez took third in the 200 IM (2:37.05) while Joao DeSouza came in third in the 100 butterfly (1:16.82). The 200 medley relay team of Rafael Conde, Cairon Nunez, Alex Conde and Owen Jupin took first (1:55.39).

Catholic Central League championship: Bishop Stang placed second as a team. Brandon Medeiros won both the 200 IM (2:18.51) and 100 breaststroke (1:06.27).

BOYS TRACK

Janiak Freshman-Sophomore Invitational: Apponequet’s Luca Rubini took first in the 2-mile in front of teammate Aneil Barnick (fifth) while Aiden Enloe was second in the 600 and Nathan Serrecchia came in third in the high jump. Jackson Iafrate took sixth in the 1,000. Placing for Fairhaven were Zach Moura in the shot put (first; 38-8.75), Ryan Pires in the shot put (third; 36-00.5) and Nick Lajoie in the 55 dash (fourth; 7.20).

GIRLS TRACK

Janiak Freshman-Sophomore Invitational: Apponequet’s Leah McGee was fourth in the 300 while Keltey Fournier came in fourth in the mile. Mayeya Vlahopoulos and Grace Schwatz tied for fifth in the high jump. Placing for Fairhaven were Elle Boucher in the high jump (fourth; 4-2) and 55 dash (fifth; 8.17), Anna Fleurent in the high jump (third; 4-4), Briarose Aspden in the shot put (sixth; 26-4) and Bella Menard in the 1,000 (fifth; 3:45.99).

BOYS HOCKEY

ORR/Fairhaven 3, Bishop Stang 1: Tucker Roy made 28 saves to help ORR (9-7-1, 3-2-1 SCC) punch its ticket to the playoffs. Connor Galligan, Barrett Becotte and Michael Brown each had one goal for the Bulldogs.

Auburn 5, Dartmouth 1: The lone goal for Dartmouth (10-7) was scored by Lucas DeSousa on an assist from Aidan Cruz.

GIRLS HOCKEY

Bishop Stang 2, Longmeadow 2: Izzy Duarte made 29 saves while Kacey Curran and Samantha Souza each had a goal. Isa Rioux added an assist for the Spartans (5-7-2, 3-3-1).

WRESTLING

New Bedford 60, Walpole 21; New Bedford 57, Canton 18; New Bedford 36, King Philip 35: Going undefeated for New Bedford were Anthony Bojoquez, Dereon Tremblay, Prince Wright, Forrester Tompson and Tayel Guzman.

Friday, Feb. 2

BOYS BASKETBALL

Fairhaven 62, Westport 54: Ryan Ptaszenski led the Blue Devils (7-9, 3-7 SCC) to their fourth straight win with 17 points. Josh Vieira added 13 points while Hansen Zhao and Ayden Duguay chipped in with 12 points apiece.

Old Rochester 78, Apponequet 62: Zack Moura knocked down five 3-pointers for a team-high 18 points as the Bulldogs (12-4, 8-1 SCC) captured their fourth straight win. John Butler added 15 points while Gavin Martin had 14 points and eight assists, Chase Besancon chipped in with 12 points and eight rebounds and Robert Spenard added 11 points, six rebounds and seven assists. For Apponequet (9-5, 5-4 SCC), Caiden Cyr had a team-high 23 points, four assists and two rebounds while Will Levrault chipped in with 16 points and three assists and Will Horton added 10 points and three assists. Nathan Levesque contributed five points and 10 rebounds.

Wareham 93, GNB Voc-Tech 52: The Vikings (13-3) won big on Senior Night. “This senior class is one of the best classes to ever come out of our program and they represented tonight,” said Wareham coach Steve Faniel. “It was a step in the right direction as we continue to work towards our goals.” Aaron Cote and Jayce Travers led Wareham with 15 points apiece with Antoine Crosson added 11 and Diego Mello and Amare Rose had nine apiece.

New Bedford 62, Dartmouth 59: Craig Baptista led the Whalers (7-9, 2-4 SEC) with 20 points while Javion Lloyd added 14. For Dartmouth (8-6, 4-2 SEC), Johan Valdez had a team-high 24 points while Adam Mogawer added 17 points.

Bishop Stang 57, Bishop Fenwick 49: Frank Vollaro scored a team-high 21 points while Dylan Hunt, Tyler Harrison, Jack Durost and Tysen Teixeira added seven points apiece for the Spartans (7-7, 3-4 CCL).

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Old Rochester 59, Fairhaven 27: Hannah Thorell had a team-high 15 points for ORR (12-3, 9-1 SCC) while Emerson Gonet and Amber Engel chipped in with 10 points apiece.

Dartmouth 69, New Bedford 59: Kat Cheesebro notched 23 points while Kaelyn Zuber added 16 and Kate Sullivan chipped in with 12 for Dartmouth (14-1, 6-0 SEC).

GNB Voc-Tech 68, Bristol-Plymouth 25: Kaira Dubois recorded a team-high 20 points while Jai-Ana Silva added 18 points and 13 steals and Olivia Reis chipped in with 15 points for Voc-Tech (7-9, 2-6 SCC).

Thursday, Feb. 1

BOYS BASKETBALL

Old Colony 87, Norfolk Aggie 33: Max Finney powered the Cougars (14-1, 7-0 MAC) with 17 points, nine rebounds, two blocks and five steals while Aven Beauchmin added 13 points, three steals and six assists. Mason Belanger chipped in with 10 rebounds and 12 points.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Holbrook 39, Wareham 33, OT: Jordyn Elwood led the Vikings (9-5, 1-2 MAC) with 12 points while Keira Pierre chipped in with six.

Norfolk Aggie 37, Old Colony 25: Lindsey Bacchiocchi had a team-high 11 points for the Cougars (2-13, 1-7 MAC).

BOYS SWIMMING

Old Rochester 88, Apponequet 69: Owen Sullivan swam a personal-best 6:11.06 to win the 500 freestyle for Apponequet (2-6). Hunter Owen took first in the 100 butterfly (1:00.34) while Eugene Jung won the 200 IM with a sectional-qualifying time of 2:14.45.

GIRLS SWIMMING

Old Rochester 92, Apponequet 74: Maddie Voci won the 200 freestyle (2:19.05) and 500 freestyle (6:17.26) to pace the Lakers (2-6). Charlotte Carvalho won the 200 IM (2:43. 78) while Lauren Bernaiche took first in the 50 freestyle (28.60) and Mackenzie Owen was fastest in the 100 butterfly (1:15.18).

Wednesday, Jan. 31

BOYS BASKETBALL

Wareham 95, Dennis-Yarmouth 55: The Vikings (12-3) bounced back from their loss to Bourne behind a balanced offensive attack. Diego Mello led the way with 15 points while Amare Rose added 12 and Ajay Lopes, Jayce Travers and Jakwon Pittman had 11 points apiece.

Apponequet 68, Middleboro 64: Caiden Cyr led the Lakers (9-4, 5-3 SCC) with 19 points, six assists and seven rebounds while Nathan Levesque added 16 points and 15 rebounds. Will Levrault had 13 points and six assists while Colin Cyr chipped in with 12 points and six rebounds.

GIRLS HOCKEY

Bishop Stang 4, Bishop Feehan 4: Olivia Medeiros led Stang (6-7) with two goals while Ashley Smith and Madison Lewis had one goal and one assist apiece. Izzy Duarte had 47 saves.

BOYS HOCKEY

Nantucket 4, ORR/Fairhaven 1: Caleb Bousquet scored ORR’s lone goal off assists from Connor Galligan and Justin Marques. Tucker Roy made 44 saves for the Bulldogs (8-7-1, 3-2-1 SCC).

Tuesday, Jan. 30

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Old Rochester 53, Dighton-Rehoboth 31: Amber Engel notched a team-high 17 points while Hannah Thorell dominated the boards with 20 rebounds to go along with eight points as the Bulldogs (11-3, 8-1 SCC) punched their ticket to the playoffs. Emerson Gonet and Caroline Brogioli had nine points apiece.

Apponequet 69, Fairhaven 17: Addison Taylor led the Lakers (13-3, 8-1 SCC) with 15 points and seven steals while CC Levrault had 14 points, four assists and eight steals. Ava Dixon chipped in with 12 points and five steals while Cynthia Morales had five points, six rebounds and three steals.

Dartmouth 46, Brockton 34: Dartmouth (13-1, 5-0 SEC) bounced back from its lone loss. Kaelyn Zuber had seven rebounds, five steals and three points while Kat Cheesebro had 25 points and seven steals. Remy Barber contributed 10 points.

Somerset Berkley 64, GNB Voc-Tech 54: Jai-Ana Silva had a team-high 26 points and 10 rebounds to power the Bears (6-9, 2-6 SCC). Kaira Dubois added 13 points, five rebounds and six steals while Olivia Reis and Casalice Dias had five points apiece.

Old Colony 51, South Shore 10: Lindsey Bacchiocchi scored 14 points while Rylee Vilacha added 12 as the Cougars (2-12, 1-6 MAC) captured their second win of the season.

BOYS BASKETBALL

Fairhaven 60, Apponequet 58: Fairhaven led 41-26 at halftime and held off a second-half comeback from the Lakers (8-4, 5-3 SCC). Hansen Zhao had 21 points while Ayden Duguay added 19 as the Blue Devils (6-9, 3-7 SCC) captured their third straight win. Nathan Levesque had a team-high 20 points and 15 rebounds for Apponequet while Will Horton added 13 points and six assists and Caiden Cyr chipped in with 10 points, six assists and six rebounds.

Old Rochester 63, Dighton-Rehoboth 40: The Bulldogs (11-4, 7-1 SCC) qualified for the playoffs thanks to strong all-around games from John Butler (10 points and nine rebounds) and Chase Besancon (nine points and nine rebounds). Gavin Martin had a team-high 13 points while Zack Mourao had nine points and Finn Kavanaugh had nine points and eight rebounds.

Old Colony 58, South Shore 30: Max Finney led the Cougars (13-1, 6-0 MAC) with 17 points and nine rebounds while Nick Fringuelli added 15 points and 10 rebounds.

Brockton 64, Dartmouth 55: Adam Mogawer scored a team-high 21 points while Logan Kennedy added 13. Dartmouth (8-5, 4-1 SEC) was without Hunter Matteson and Jhoan Valdez.

Bridgewater-Raynham 61, New Bedford 60: Craig Baptista had a team-high 15 points while Anthony Diakite added eight points and 22 rebounds and Dezmond Brunskill had 12 rebounds. Isaac Rivera chipped in with 11 points and Javion Lloyd chipped in with nine for the Whalers (6-9, 1-4 SEC).

GIRLS SWIMMING

South Coast Conference Championship: Seekonk took first place (379) followed by Old Rochester (287) and Apponequet (268). Apponequet’s 200 freestyle relay team of Charlotte Carvalho, Nora McClurkin, Lauren Bernaiche and Madison Voci took first (1:54.67). Voci came in second in both the 200 freestyle (2:15.21) and 500 freestyle (6:20.45) while Carvalho took second in the 200 IM (2:45.11) and Bernaiche came in second in the 50 freestyle (28.54). Mackenzie Owen was the runner up in the 100 butterfly (1:14.29).

Bishop Feehan 99, New Bedford 87: Trinity Coleman took first in the 100 breaststroke (1:15.01) and 100 freestyle (personal-best and state-qualifying 57.69) for New Bedford (7-2, 3-0 SEC) while Serenity Coleman won the 200 freestyle (2:09.46) and just missed the school record by less than 0.50 seconds in the 100 butterfly (first; state-qualifying and personal-best 58.31) and Annabelle Huston took first in the 500 freestyle (personal-best 6:08.00). Caroline Huston, Annabelle Huston, Trinity Coleman and Serenity Coleman qualified for states in the 200 medley relay (first; 1:58.61).

BOYS SWIMMING

South Coast Conference Championship: Old Rochester finished first (375) followed by Seekonk (270) and Apponequet (254). Eugene Jung won the 200 IM (2:16.13) and placed second in the 100 breaststroke (state-qualifying time of 1:06.58) while Hunter Owen took first in the 100 backstroke (1:02.13) and second in the 100 butterfly (1:00.88). David Jope came in second in the 200 freestyle (2:21.18). Owen, Jung, David Jope and Levi Jope came in second in both the 200 medley relay (1:56.05) and 400 freestyle relay (3:55.68).

Bishop Feehan 103, New Bedford 82: Rafael Conde swam a personal-best 1:06.52 to place first in the 100 backstroke for New Bedford (7-2, 3-0 SEC).

BOYS TRACK

SEC Meet #5: Dartmouth’s Tyler Medeiros won the mile with a state-qualifying time of 4:27.94. Trent Farnsworth qualified for states in the 600 (1:29.72). The 4x200 team of Eric Belliveau, Townes Moore, Maddox Dupre and Ray Gramlich qualified for states with a 1:36.76.

Monday, Jan. 29

BOYS BASKETBALL

Bishop Stang 68, Arlington Catholic 41: Frank Vollaro had a team-high 31 points, nine rebounds and three assists to lead the Spartans (6-7, 3-4 CCL). Dylan Hunt added 19 points and two rebounds.

BOYS HOCKEY

Nauset 6, ORR/Fairhaven 0: Tucker Roy made 40 saves for the Bulldogs (8-6-1).

Seekonk/Dighton-Rehoboth 7, GNB Voc-Tech 3: Nick Boucher, Brady Finn and Talon Allain each had one goal for the Bears (1-12).

Sunday, Jan. 28

BOYS TRACK

MSTCA Coaches Invitational: Dartmouth’s Tyler Medeiros took first in the 1,000 (school-record 2:32.52) at the MSTCA Coaches Invitational while Maddox Dupre qualified for Div. 3 states in the 55 dash (6.88) and Nicholas Silva qualified for Div. 3 states in the 600 (1:30.36). The 4x400 relay team of Trent Farnsworth, Townes Moore, Caiden Demanche and Medeiros qualified for states as well with a 3:40.27. GNB Voc-Tech’s Jarred Quan won the 55 dash (6.53) while Owen Viera took second in the 55 high hurdles (7.71). Bishop Stang’s Lowell Copps broke the school record to take fourth place in the mile (4:30.4) while Michael Veegh came in seventh in the 600 (1:25.83). Apponequet’s Justin Serrecchia set a school record of 6.70 in the 55. Thomas Smith (300; 38.21) and Judson Cardinali (600; 1:30.49) qualified for states along with the 4x400 relay team of Aiden Enloe, Smith, Serrecchia and Elijah Barlow.

GIRLS TRACK

MSTCA Coaches Invitational: Apponequet’s Morgan Hayward took second in the 600 (1:39.59). Dartmouth’s 4x400 relay team of Makayla DeSouza, Katie Canniff, Brooke Davis and Haley Zexter qualified for states with a season-best time of 4:28.24.

Saturday, Jan. 27

BOYS BASKETBALL

New Bedford 75, Boston English 59: Craig Baptista knocked down five 3-pointers for a team-high 17 points while Jaren Goodine, Cam Davis and Jartavis Penro had eight points apiece for New Bedford (6-8, 1-3).

GIRLS HOCKEY

St. Mary’s 6, Bishop Stang 1: Meghan Costa scored one goal for Stang (5-7) while Alexis Pettinato and Peyton Morosco had one assist apiece.

BOYS HOCKEY

Bishop Stang 6, Mashpee/Monomoy 5: Nate Moniz scored two goals, including the game winner to power the Spartans (7-6-1). Aidan Cousineau added two goals and one assist while Kyle Cousineau chipped in with one goal and three assists.
