SouthCoast's top performers, scores and highlights for Jan. 15-21

Most SouthCoast teams are hitting the midway point of their respective seasons and looking toward the playoffs as the MIAA releases winter power rankings twice a week from here on out.

Here's a look at the SouthCoast's top performers, scores and highlights for Jan. 15-21.

Saturday, Jan. 19

BOYS BASKETBALL

Wareham 82, Nauset 52: The Vikings (10-2) were led by Antoine Crosson with 19 points and 16 rebounds. “All five starters were in double figures and the big fella led the way tonight,” said Wareham head coach Steve Faniel. “Tonight was his night. He had the biggest advantage tonight and the ball found him.” Ajay Lopes had 14 points, eight assists and six rebounds while Diego Mello added 10 points and six assists and Aaron Cote chipped in with 14 points. Jayce Travers contributed 11 points.

BOYS HOCKEY

ORR/Fairhaven 5, Apponequet 0: Barrett Becotte had two goals and Caleb Bousquet added three assists as the Bulldogs (8-4-1, 3-2-1) captured their fourth straight win. Jarrod Frates had one goal and two assists while Chase Almeida and Connor Galligan had one goal and one assist apiece.

Nantucket 5, Bishop Stang 0: Carter Vane made 24 saves for the Spartans (6-5-1).

Dartmouth 4, Silver Lake 1: Maddox Larocque, Maddux Carreiro, Drew Spirlet and Charlie Camisa each scored a goal for Dartmouth (8-5), which got redemption for an earlier season loss to Silver Lake. Aidan Cruz had two assists while Lucas DeSousa, Camisa, Larocque, Kai Andrade and John Bicho each had an assist. Ashton Machedo made 23 saves.

WRESTLING

New Bedford 59, Cambridge Ringe and Latin 24; New Bedford 37, East Greenwich 9; Framingham 42, New Bedford 24: Going undefeated for the Whalers were Angel Carmmenatty, Edrian Olivia Bojoquez, Nile Montiero and Eduardo Trinidad.

Friday, Jan. 18

BOYS BASKETBALL

Apponequet 61, GNB Voc-Tech 51: Will Levrault led the Lakers (6-3, 4-2 SCC) with 16 points and five assists while Will Horton had 15 points and four assists. Caiden Cyr chipped in with 11 points and six assists while Colin Cyr added 10 points and five rebounds. Nathan Levesque had five points and 13 rebounds. For Voc-Tech (4-8, 2-5 SCC), Demetrious Baptiste had 21 points while Jhaden Reis added 19 points and six rebounds.

Archbishop Williams 73, Bishop Stang 59: Tyler Harrison recorded 14 points and 11 rebounds while Marty Zeitz had 16 points for Stang (4-6, 2-4 CCL).

Old Rochester 69, Case 58: The Bulldogs (9-5, 5-1 SCC) bounced back from their loss to Wareham thanks to a team-high 27 points from Zack Mourao. John Butler added 17 points and nine rebounds while Chase Besancon chipped in with nine points and eight rebounds.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Apponequet 60, GNB Voc-Tech 51: Hannah Kuriscak powered the Lakers (10-2, 6-1 SCC) with 14 points, three assists and two steals while CC Levrault added 13 points, five rebounds and five steals. Ava Dixon chipped in with 12 points and six rebounds and Addison Taylor had 11 points, eight assists and five steals. For Voc-Tech (5-7, 2-5 SCC), Jai-Ana Silva had 19 points and six rebounds while Kaira Dubois added 12 points and Casalice Dias chipped in with eight points and 12 rebounds.

Old Rochester 39, Case 33: Emma Johnson and Caroline Brogioli had nine points apiece while Hannah Thorell and Amber Engel chipped in with eight apiece for the Bulldogs (8-2, 7-0 SCC).

GIRLS SWIMMING

Old Rochester 90, Durfee 83: The Bulldogs (2-2) got wins from Katie Anderson in the 200 IM and 100 freestyle, Caitlyn Lund in the 200 freestyle, Reilly Patraiko in the 100 butterfly, Corrine Hibbert in the 500 freestyle and Elizabeth Chubb in the 100 breaststroke.

BOYS SWIMMING

Old Rochester 103, Durfee 74: Ian Shultz won the 200 IM and 100 butterfly while Sam Raynor was first in the 100 freestyle and 100 backstroke to lead the undefeated Bulldogs (4-0). ORR also got wins from Riley Karo in the 50 freestyle and 500 freestyle, Tate Peterson in the 200 freestyle, and Zach Travis in the 100 breaststroke.

Thursday, Jan. 18

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Wareham 61, Avon 32: Johnny Tompkins scored a team-high 14 points for Wareham (7-2, 0-1) while Masaydes Perry added 12 points and Riana Phillips chipped in with 10 points. Jordyn Elwood added nine.

Upper Cape 42, Old Colony 22: Kayleigh DeSousa led the Cougars (1-9, 0-4 MAC) with 10 points while Lindsey Bacchiochhi added six.

GIRLS TRACK

Old Rochester 53, GNB Voc-Tech 33: The Bulldogs got wins from Liz Feeney in the shot put (28-05.25), Rayn Lauradin in the 55 (7.5), Delilah Post in the 600 (1:50.0), Audrey Thomas in the 300 (45.3) and Alexia Gonsalves in the 2-mile (13:23). For GNB Voc-Tech, Madalyn Duarte won the high jump, mile and 1,000 while Shelbey Ruffley was first in the 55 hurdles.

Fairhaven 52, West Bridgewater 34: The Blue Devils got wins from Elle Boucher in the 300 (49.8), Natalie Yochim in the 600 (2:10.4), Briarose Aspden in the shot put (25-10.5) and Aylin Haworth in the high jump (4-9).

BOYS TRACK

West Bridgewater 51, Fairhaven 34: Winners for Fairhaven were Richard Senna in the 55 (7.1), Josh Arruda in the 1,000 (3:25) and Gavin Fletcher in the high hurdles (9.6). GNB Voc-Tech 54, Old Rochester 31: The undefeated Bears (4-0) got wins from Owen Viera in the 55 hurdles (7.5) and high jump (5-10), Jarred Quann in the 55 (6.4) and 300 (39.4), Daniel Ward in the 1,000 (2:47) and AJ Algarin in the shot put (40-6). Winners for ORR were Tyler Young in the mile (4:58.8), John Bowman in the 600 (1:31.5) and Noah Robert-Howley in the 2-mile (12:05.2).

Wednesday, Jan. 17

BOYS BASKETBALL

Old Colony 87, Norfolk 54: Max Finney notched 25 points as the Cougars (10-0, 3-0 MAC) captured their 10th straight win to punch their ticket to the playoffs. Chase LaFountain had 11 points and Mason Belanger added 10 points.

Dartmouth 68, Bridgewater-Raynham 55: Hunter Matteson had 27 points and 11 rebounds to power Dartmouth (8-2, 4-0 SEC) to its sixth straight win. Jhoan Valdez added 16 points and seven rebounds while Adam Mogawer chipped in with 14 points.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Norfolk Aggie 45, Old Colony 35: Lindsay Bacchiocchi led the Cougars (1-8, 0-3 MAC) with 11 points while Kayleigh DeSousa added 10.

BOYS HOCKEY

ORR/Fairhaven 8, GNB Voc-Tech 4: Barrett Becotte recorded two goals and two assists while Thomas Carrico added two goals to lead ORR (7-4-1, 2-2-1 SCC). Caleb Bousquet, Matthew Tobin, Connor Galligan and Jack Finn had one goal apiece while Connor Foley added three assists. Paddy Carrier captured his first win in net in his first start. For Voc-Tech (1-9, 0-5 SCC), Nick Sears and Charlie Niemiec each had a goal and an assist while Brady Finn and Nick Boucher scored one apiece. It was Niemiec’s first varsity goal. Cam Francisco played a strong game in goal, keeping the game close.

Apponequet 4, Bourne 2: Ryan Vincent led the way for Apponequet (4-6, 1-3 SCC) with two goals and one assist while Cam Sylvia and Jared Freitas had one goal and one assist apiece.

WRESTLING

Bridgewater-Raynham 35, New Bedford 30: Winners for New Bedford were Prince Wright (pin), Nile Montiero (decision), Anthony Bonorquez (pin), Josiah Semedo (decision), Miguel Gomes (decision), Anderson Dinis (major decision) and Eduardo Trinidad (pin).

Tuesday, Jan. 16

GIRLS BASKETBALL

GNB Voc-Tech 54, Dighton-Rehoboth 40: Jai-Ana Silva notched 27 points as the Bears (4-7, 2-4 SCC) captured their second straight win and third in the past four games. Kaira Dubois added nine points while Casalice Dias chipped in with eight.

Durfee 47, New Bedford 39: Alaysha Sylvia led the Whalers (4-6, 0-3 SEC) with 12 points while Alexis Rebello and Avan Kaplan had eight points apiece.

BOYS BASKETBALL

GNB Voc-Tech 48, Dighton-Rehoboth 44: Jhaden Reis notched 18 points, seven rebounds and three assists as the Bears (4-7, 2-4 SCC) captured their third straight win.

GIRLS SWIMMING

New Bedford 106, Brockton 59: Annabelle Huston won the 200 IM (2:39.82) and 100 butterfly (1:12.14) while Caroline Huston was first in the 50 freestyle (28.33) and 100 breaststroke (1:26.57) for New Bedford (6-1, 2-0). Amelia Davis was fastest in the 100 freestyle (1:07.78) and 100 backstroke (1:21.75) while Hannah Blanchard won the 200 freestyle (2:33.36) and 500 freestyle (6:53.69).

BOYS SWIMMING

New Bedford 104, Brockton 71: Rafael Conde won the 200 freestyle (2:09.53) and 100 backstroke (1:08.54) while Alex Conde was first in the 200 IM (2:22.02) and 100 breaststroke (1:12.48) for the Whalers (6-1, 2-0). Owen Jupin won the 50 freestyle (26.60) and 100 butterfly (1:07.3) and Liam Burdman was the fastest in the 500 freestyle (6:59.12).

Monday, Jan. 15

BOYS HOCKEY

Dartmouth 4, North Attleboro 3: Lucas DeSousa had two goals to lead Dartmouth to a win in the first round of Bridgewater-Raynham’s MLK tournament. Maddox Larocque and Brady Beauparland added a goal and an assist. Aidan Cruz chipped in with two assists while Ashton Machado had 26 saves.

Bishop Stang 1, Mashpee/Monomoy 0: Ciaran Galligan had one goal for Stang (6-4-1) while Carter Vane made 35 saves.

GIRLS HOCKEY

Plymouth 3, Bishop Stang 0: Isabelle Duarte finished with 19 saves for Stang (5-5, 3-1) while Ally Smith got the game puck for her effort on defense, coming off an injury. Natalie Carrico got the Hard Hat Award.

WRESTLING

New Bedford 35, JQUS 12; New Bedford 46, Saugus Peabody 16; New Bedford 18. St. John’s Prep 46; New Bedford 42, St. John’s Prep 16: Tayel Guzman and Anthony Bojoquerez both went undefeated for New Bedford at The St John’s Prep MLK duals.
