South Carolina football starting cornerback O'Donnell Fortune suspended for Kentucky game

COLUMBIA — South Carolina football suspended starting cornerback O'Donnell Fortune for a violation of team rules for the second time this season according to Gamecocks radio announcer Todd Ellis. He did not play against Kentucky on Saturday.

The 6-foot-1, 185-pound Fortune has started every game except for one this season. He was suspended for the first half against Texas A&M because of what coach Shane Beamer called a "violation of athletic department policy," which he clarified was "nothing illegal."

Ellis said this week's suspension will be for the entire game, as Fortune was not included on the team's dress list.

Fortune has 33 tackles, seven pass breakups and two interceptions this season across 10 appearances.

Freshman Judge Collier made his second career start at cornerback in Fortune's place after logging his first against the Aggies. The former three-star has appeared in all 10 games, logging defensive stats in five. He has logged seven tackles in his first collegiate season.
