South Bend Adams boys basketball coach Chad Johnston reached a career milestone Monday, picking up his 300th victory in a 59-46 home win over Bremen.

He became the third coach in South Bend history to reach 300 career wins, joining former Adams coach Dave Hadaway (315 wins) and Mark Johnson, who won a total of 470 games across stops at the now-defunct LaSalle, Riley and Saint Joseph. Hadaway — who the court at Adams High School is named after was inducted into the Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame in 2000, and Johnson is surely on his way there as well.

Johnston has an overall record of 300-199. He won exactly 200 games at Washington from 2003-2017 and now 100 games in six-plus seasons with Adams. Johnston led the Panthers to a sectional championship in 2010 and the Eagles to one in 2022.

Three players reached double-figures in scoring for Adams Friday: Jarvis Tolbert with 19 points, Gerron Barr 15 and Amari Wesson 13. The Eagles improve to 7-8 overall and 4-2 in Northern Indiana Conference contests. They next play Thursday at Jimtown before returning home Saturday against Portage.
