Sources: While Suns explore trade options, Eric Bledsoe plans to return to team facility to train
As Phoenix continues to explore potential trade options for Eric Bledsoe, the Suns guard is planning to return to the team’s practice facility and work with staff members early this week, league sources told The Vertical.
Bledsoe and the Suns have no plans for him to rejoin the team, but Bledsoe, who has since trained away from the facility, plans to utilize the team’s building and staff to remain in game shape for a potential trade, league sources said.
The Suns sent Bledsoe home after his Oct. 22 tweet that read, “I Dont wanna be here.” Bledsoe received a $10,000 fine from the NBA for the tweet and is working with the players union to appeal the fine, sources told The Vertical.
There have been several teams pursuing a deal for Bledsoe, giving the Suns several potential offers to choose from, but they continue to hold off in hopes of receiving more value. Prior to the season, Bledsoe had amicably informed the Suns’ ownership and front office about his desire for a trade, but was sent away from the team in late October with the expectation of a trade. He has this season and 2018-19 remaining on his contract.
Bledsoe averaged 15.7 points and three assists in three games in his eighth season in the NBA. He averaged 21.1 points and 6.3 assists in 66 games last season.
Phoenix has gone 4-2 since a 0-3 start that led to the firing of coach Earl Watson.
