Solon basketball's Anna Quillin earns Press-Citizen’s Athlete of the Week honors

Solon girls basketball's Anna Quillin was voted by readers as the Iowa City Press-Citizen’s Athlete of the Week for Feb. 26-March 3.

Quillin earned Athlete of the Week with 41% of the vote. Clear Creek Amana basketball’s Ava Locklear finished in second place with 40% of the vote.

Quillin, a senior, finished her high school basketball career on a high note during the Iowa girls state basketball tournament. Her elite rebounding helped Solon girls basketball (24-3) clinch its first state title since 1998. She grabbed 40 rebounds in three games for the Spartans, setting a Class 3A record, and earned a spot in the 3A All-Tournament team.
