Softball: Two undefeated teams remain in latest North Jersey Top 25 rankings

I had a simple question for a North Jersey softball coach this week. “Are you good? Or are you good?” Because there is a difference.

We're three weeks into the North Jersey softball season and that means the season is almost half over. It’s not a very long season. Now is the time when we find out if teams are just good on paper, or good for real.

Weehawken and Hawthorne are the last two unbeaten teams in North Jersey. We know the Indians are good. Maybe maybe the Bears are good too. They have pitching. They have some sticks.

Glen Rock lost its first two games of the season, but the Panthers have now won seven in a row. Are they good or good? Wallington only has one-run loss to Wood-Ridge and beat Emerson. The Panthers are good. Right?

It was fun shaking some things up in the rankings this week. Ridgefield Park deserves to be No. 4. Rutherford deserves to be No. 5 even after losing to Weehawken in a close one. Then you can make a case for plenty of teams after that.

Pascack Valley is a new team in this week. We will find out if the Panthers are good or good when they play Bergenfield onWednesday.
