Social media reacts to Cleveland Browns running back Nick Chubb's knee injury
Cleveland Browns running back Nick Chubb exited the "Monday Night Football" matchup in Week 2 of the NFL season against the division rival Pittsburgh Steelers with an apparent severe knee injury.
Running the ball in the red zone, Chubb was hit hard just below the knee. His leg bent awkwardly, suggesting an injury that could end his season.
(Editor's Note: Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski has since confirmed that Chubb will undergo season-ending surgery on his left knee.)
Joe Buck's broadcast partner Troy Aikman said of showing replay of the hit and subsequent injury: “We’re not going to show it. It’s as bad as you can imagine."
Adam Schefter notes serious injury Nick Chubb previous had
And, as ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter noted, Chubb injured that same knee back in 2015 while in college:
Nick Chubb dislocated his left knee and tore his MCL, PCL, and LCL with cartilage damage on October 10, 2015 vs. Tennessee. He injured the same knee tonight vs. Pittsburgh.

Reactions, prayers and condolences rolled in swiftly on social media, with many folks in and around the NFL lamenting the loss of a player as talented as Chubb for the 2023 season.
