Social media reactions to Michigan’s tribute to suspended head coach Jim Harbaugh
Many Ohio State Football fans are always watching what rival Michigan is doing.
That’s especially true when the two teams aren’t playing at the same time on a Saturday. Opening weekend had the Wolverines playing in the early slot against cupcake East Carolina, while our beloved Buckeyes played Indiana in the mid-afternoon window.
If you didn’t know, Michigan’s head coach Jim Harbaugh is sitting out the first three games of this season on a self-imposed sanction as the NCAA investigates the program for recruiting violations.
It doesn’t seem like the players received the memo that this was self-imposed because some of their pregame and in-game actions showed differently. Check out what Michigan did, along with reactions to their support of their suspended coach.

Is Harbaugh in jail? Pretty sure the university approved of this.
Ben Stevens, you are correct
J.J. McCarthy wears a “Free Harbaugh” shirt into the Big House for Michigan’s opener against ECU.

Reaction
Stevens understood the penalty, not sure the players did.
Free hamburgers?
UNBELIEVABLE:
Michigan QB JJ McCarthy spotted wearing a “Free Hamburgers” shirt in correlation to the 3-game suspension for Harbaugh.
McCarthy is wearing the shirt to spite Harbaugh because when he was being recruited, Harbaugh only gave him free beets and anchovies 😳 pic.twitter.com/FPhvFZW6dg

Obviously this is photoshopped, but it’s still funny.
How about some in-game antics

Can’t help but laugh at this, too. The cheeseburger strikes again.
Reaction from their other rival
Imagine Michigan fans reaction if Mel had his players do a tribute formation to him getting suspended

Reaction
The odd-ball head coach has rubbed off on his players and fan base. I don’t agree with Michigan State fans often, but this one is right.
Living tribute?
Michigan gave a tribute to Jim Harbaugh?
He’s (self-imposed) suspended, not dead… pic.twitter.com/imCkVAa41G— Grayson Weir (@GsonJW) September 2, 2023
Reaction
Yeah, Grayson, Harbaugh isn’t dead. He’s just suspended for three games.
