Social media’s reactions to Florida’s close victory over Missouri

The Florida Gators beat the Missouri Tigers 24-17 on Homecoming weekend, but not without a dose of late-game anxiety.

The Gators were up 24-10 with just over 11 minutes left to play in the game. The Tigers then converted on a third & 22 and third & 15 before Nate Peat took it 18 yards to make it a one-possession game for Missouri with six minutes to go.

The Tigers then forced a Gators interception for one last chance, but they were not able to convert on fourth down, giving the Gators their first SEC win of the season.

Offensively, Florida was a tale of two halves. The offense was missing in the first half, tallying just 65 yards of total offense. The run game would come alive in the second half, with the Gators finishing with 231 rushing yards. Montrell Johnson Jr. (41), Trevor Etienne (39, and Anthony Richardson (32) each had long runs of over 30 yards in the second half.

While there were defensive mistakes made in the game, the defense did its job late. As head coach Billy Napier put it in the post-game TV interview, they had a “bend don’t break” mentality.

Here’s how social media reacted to Florida’s 24-17 Homecoming victory over Missouri.
