Soccer-Falcao on target as Monaco go top

(Adds Metz draw) PARIS, Sept 17 (Reuters) - Radamel Falcao scored on his Ligue 1 return as Monaco went top of the table thanks to a commanding 3-0 home win over Stade Rennais on Saturday. The Colombia forward struck three minutes before halftime and Thomas Lemar grabbed a late double to put the principality team on 13 points from five games following their seventh straight victory in all competitions. Paris St Germain, who hammered Caen 6-0 on Friday, are second on 10 points. Metz are third on 10 points after a goalless draw at Dijon. Fourth-placed Nice will go joint top if they win at Montpellier on Sunday. Falcao, who had not played in the league since August because of a thigh injury, headed home in the 42nd minute. Rennes never really threatened a comeback and conceded twice in the dying minutes. Lemar latched on to a cross from Guido Carrillo in the 90th minute before making it 3-0 with a superb 25-metre strike. (Reporting by Julien Pretot; Editing by Tony Jimenez)
