Which SJ County track and field athletes qualified for the CIF State Meet?
Every high school track and field athlete has had their eyes dead set on the 2024 CIF State Track and Field Championship Meet this season.
All the practices, day-long meets, and hours spent on the field led to this moment and for 20 San Joaquin County athletes, the moment has arrived.
These 209 track stars punched their ticket to the State meet after shining at the Sac-Joaquin Section Track Masters which was held from May 17-18. Only the top three finishes in each event at the Masters qualified for State as well as athletes who met the at-large entry bid requirements for the respective event.
Here are the SJ County athletes who will represent their schools at the 104th CIF State Meet that will kick off on May 24 at Buchanan High School, Clovis.

Isaiah Arechiga
School: Manteca
Events: Boys 4x400 relay
Summary: Arechiga is the first leg of the Buffaloes boys 4x400 relay team that took home bronze at the SJS Masters. The senior is one of three seniors to qualify for State.
Noah Bowden
School: St. Mary’s
Events: Boys 4x400 relay
Summary: At the third leg spot in St. Mary’s boys 4x400 relay team, Bowden helped his team snag first place at the Masters. He is one of six seniors to qualify for State.
Asante Carter
School: St. Mary’s
Events: Boys 4x400 relay
Summary: Carter was the second leg in the Rams’ 4x400 relay team and helped them earn gold in the event. The senior also competed in the 300-meter hurdle event at the Masters.
Osani Gayles
School: St. Mary’s
Events: Long jump, boys 4x100 relay
Summary: As just a freshman, Gayles will compete in two events at the CIF State Meet after earning an at-large bid in the long jump event with a score of 22'8". He also was the first leg of the 4x100 relay team that took home gold.
Fekei George
School: St. Mary’s
Events: High jump
Summary: George was jumping for gold in the girls' high jump event beating out 28 other jumpers for first place. The sophomore finished with a score of 5’5" and is one of two St. Mary’s jumpers to take home gold.
Tamea Crear
School: St. Mary's
Events: 100-meter
Summary: The lone female freshman to qualify from the Rams this season is Crear who earned an at-large bid in the 100-meter race. She ran the race in 11.89 seconds just .05 seconds faster than the qualifying time taking fourth place.
Shanye Harris
School: Edison
Events: 100 meter, 200 meter
Summary: Nothing but gold for Harris at this year's Masters as she dusted her competition in the 100- and 200-meter events. She took home first place in both events running the 100 in 11.57 seconds and the 200 in 24.16 seconds setting a personal record in the 200-meter.

Lynzy Johnson
School: Weston Ranch
Events: 300-meter hurdle
Summary: The Cougars' lone CIF State Meet qualifier is Johnson who finished in first place in the girls' 300-meter event. The junior set a personal record running the race in 44.85 seconds beating out 23 other runners.
Nikko Maghoney
School: St. Mary’s
Events: Boys 4x100 relay
Summary: Running the first leg of the Rams boys 4x100 relay team was Maghoney helping his team bring home the gold. The senior helped the team finish with a time of three minutes and 41.23 seconds setting a met record.
Julian Moncada
School: Manteca
Events: Boys 4x400 relay
Summary: At the anchor position of the Buffaloes’ boys 4x400 relay team was Moncada leading his team to a bronze finish. The team ran the event in three minutes and 23.62 seconds.
Kenneth Moore III
School: St. Mary’s
Events: 200 meters, boys 4x100 relay and boys 4x400 relay
Summary: The only SJ County athlete to qualify for three events at the CIF State meet is Moore. The sophomore speedster finished third in the 200-meter event with a time of 22.14 seconds. He was also the anchor of the Rams 4x100 and 4x400 relay teams who both took home gold.

Events: High jump, long jump
Summary: The Rams’ top boys jumper this season has been Moore. The San Jose State signee took home gold in the high jump event with a score of 6’8" and also got an at-large bid entry in the long jump event with a personal record score of 22’8.75".
Jeffrey Overgaard
School: Lincoln
Events: 800 meter
Summary: The lone Trojan to qualify for the State this year is distance runner Overgaard. The senior took home gold at the Masters in the 800-meter race with a personal record time of one minute and 56.26 seconds.
Dario Rodriguez
School: Manteca
Events: Boys 4x400 relay
Summary: Running as the anchor for Manteca’s boys’ 4x400 relay team was Rodriguez who helped them come in third place at the Masters. The team finished the race with a time of three minutes and 23.62 seconds.

Jayden Scarver
School: Manteca
Events: 400-meter, boys 4x400 relay
Summary: Scarver will compete in two events at the CIF State Meet after securing third place in the boys 4x400 relay and the 400-meter race. He ran the 400-meter event in 48.79 seconds setting a personal record.
Clara Schoolland
School: Ripon
Events: High jump
Summary: Schoolland is one of two Ripon athletes to qualify for State this season. The sophomore earned her spot by finishing second in the girls' long jump event with a score of 5’4".
Adonis Siga
School: Lathrop
Events: 110-meter hurdle
Summary: The lone Spartan heading to State is Siga who earned an at-large bit entry in the 110-meter hurdles event. The senior set a season record by running the race in 14.38 seconds, two seconds faster than the qualifying time of 14.40 seconds.
Aiden Simon
School: St. Mary’s
Events: Boys 4x400 relay
Summary: Simon was the Rams' first leg of their boys’ 4x400 relay team that took home first place at the Masters. The senior helped his team run the race in three minutes and 19.10 seconds.
Terrell Simpson
School: McNair
Events: Triple jump
Summary: The lone McNair athlete to qualify for State this year is Simpson in the boys' triple jump event. The senior took home silver with a personal record score of 46’6".
Starla Skiles
School: Ripon
Events: 100-meter hurdle, 300-meter hurdle
Summary: The Indians’ hurdle queen this year has been Skiles who qualified for State in the 100- and 300-meter hurdle events. She finished in third place in the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 44.98 seconds and then earned an at-large bid in the 100-meter hurdle with a personal record time of 14.46 seconds.
Adam Taylor
School: St. Mary’s
Events: Boys 4x100 relay
Summary: Taylor was a part of the record-setting 4x100 boys relay team from the Rams this year at the Masters. The senior was his team's third leg and was crucial to their first-place finish.
