Sixers star Joel Embiid a full go after a summer of rehab on knee issue

The Philadelphia 76ers will get set to begin training camp on Tuesday as they prepare for the 2021-22 season. After finishing as the No. 1 seed in the East heading into the 2021 playoffs and coming up short, they will look to take the next step in their contention for an NBA title.

In order to do that, they will need superstar big man Joel Embiid fully healthy and upright. The big fella suffered a torn meniscus in his left knee in Round 1 against the Washington Wizards and it seemed to hamper him a bit in Round 2.

After not opting for the surgery in the offseason, Embiid is ready to go for training camp in preparation for the season.

Per David Aldridge of The Athletic:

Embiid was hampered by the injury during Philly’s second-round seven-game series loss to the Hawks, but gutted it out to average 30.4 points and 12.7 rebounds against Atlanta. After a summer of rehab and rest, Embiid is a “full go,” per a league source, and will have a normal preseason load.

This is a huge piece of news for Philadelphia. Embiid admitted in Round 2 against the Atlanta Hawks that the knee was bothering him and that he was not fully at 100%. For the Sixers to have any success and to do anything, they will need the big fella healthy. They will go as far as he can take them.
